The Kardashians’ statement that they did not know about claims that some of their high end fashion products are made in Chinese sweatshops, has led a labor rights advocacy group to brand the reality family “irresponsible.”

As Star magazine revealed in a bombshell worldwide exclusive investigation, a Human Rights watch organization has launched an investigation into the working conditions of the factories where the products are made.

The Kardashians aren’t the only famous fashionistas who have been accused of using sweatshops to produce clothing lines. After the shocking allegations reported by Star magazine that the famous family is endorsing and selling fashion products manufactured in foreign sweatshops, where workers, some as young as 16 years old, are abused and virtually imprisoned, RadarOnline.com has details about other celebrities who have been involved in sweatshop scandals over the years.

American television host Kathie Lee Gifford was shocked when the National Labor Committee human rights group filed a 1996 report that her Wal-Mart clothing line was being produced in a Honduras sweatshop. Though Gifford maintained that she wasn’t involved in the management of her factories and wasn’t aware of the conditions, she investigated the allegations and later went on to campaign against international sweatshops with President Bill Clinton.

Charlie Kernaghan of Institute for Global Labor and Human Rights has challenged the Kardashians to open up their factories to his investigators and the world to prove they are not sweatshops.

“I would be clearly stunned if these factories were even minimally decent because that isn’t how China operates,” Kernaghan told Star exclusively.

A prestigious human-rights watchdog organization has launched an investigation into America’s top TV family, with officials imploring the Kardashians not to profit from what amounts to “slave labor.”

“The Kardashians are in bed with some pretty bad people,” Charles Kernaghan, the executive director of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, tells Star.  “Not only are celebrities like the Kardashians taking advantage of these workers, they are holding hands with a government that spits on democracy and women’s rights.”

A clothing manufacturer once used by the Kardashians to produce one of their branded lines paid its Chinese workers a paltry 8 cents per garment, an investigation by a leading human rights advocacy group uncovered.

China Labor Watch, a nonprofit organization fighting sweatshops in the Communist regime, released the startling findings of their probe, titled 'Investigation of China’s Clothing and Apparel Industry: Excessive Overtime, Student Workers and Exploitative Wage Systems' -- which you can
read here.

The investigation into Bebe, who the Kardashians used to manufacture a branded clothing line, handbags and jewelry with in 2010 --  ran from July to August, this year.
