The gunman fired shots at both Anderson and another the ranger, Park spokesman Kevin Bacher said. Anderson would have been armed. She was one of the rangers tasked with law enforcement, but she was shot before she had even exited the vehicle.

Authorities believe that Barnes may now be “hiding out” in the remote wilderness area near Seattle where the incident happened.

Police also want to speak to him with regard to a shooting at a house party late Sunday night in Skyway where four people were left wounded, two of them are in critical condition.

Officials believe Barnes has survival skills due to his military training but do not know whether he would have survived the snowy conditions. They evacuated 125 people Sunday night from the visitors center at the National Park.

“We do have a very hot and dangerous situation,” Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said about the armed gunman on the loose.

Court documents show that Barnes was involved in a custody dispute in Tacoma last July and his toddler’s mother sought a temporary restraining order against him.

The woman said that it was possible Barnes was suffering from PTSD and was suicidal following his deployment to Iraq from 2007 to 2008 and kept a lot of weapons at his home, and was easily irritated and depressed.

DNP Random Things

In a statement that will strike many people as odd, Mexican officials say they are 80 percent sure they have their man in connection with the murder of Monica Beresford-Redman, wife of Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

DOCUMENTS: Fight Over Custody Of The Children

Francisco Alor Quesada, Attorney General of the state of Quintana Roo (where Cancun is located), says that DNA results are due any minute now and he expects an arrest to be made by next week.

EXCLUSIVE: Mistress Identity Revealed In Case of Survivor Producer Suspected Of Murdering Wife

Alor says because Monica’s body was found in sewages waters, “several tests were lost; the body was badly decomposed.” But authorities were able to get a good enough DNA sample – and those tests are expected soon.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Survivor Producer’s Mistress Was A Co-Worker, Says Dead Wife’s Friend

RadarOnline.com first reported that Bruce is the only suspect in the case and that his DNA sample was obtained when he was initially detained and subsequently released.

Family members say that Bruce and Monica were having marital problems and were hoping that this Mexican getaway would rekindle their romance.

The attorney general is handling the death as a homicide with intent, not manslaughter. He says it’s homicide because of  “the viciousness (of the crime) and hiding the body.”  Alor also says since the crime was committed in Mexico, the trial should take place there. According to Alor, homicide carries a 30 year prison sentence.

DNP Random Things

Mexican officials say they are expecting DNA results at the earliest on Monday in connection with the death of Monica Beresford-Redman, wife of  Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

EXCLUSIVE: Mistress Identity Revealed In Case of Survivor Producer Suspected Of Murdering Wife

The 41-year-old was found in a sewer outside the luxury hotel Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico, where she was vacationing with her husband Bruce, who in addition to Survivor, worked on  Pimp My Ride.  Bruce was arrested April 8 and later released, but is not allowed to leave the country pending the investigation. State investigator spokesman Adrian Cardana told RadarOnline.com that Bruce is the only suspect in the case and is under the care of the U.S. Consulate.

Monica’s family said that Bruce was having an affair, and the couple went to Mexico to rekindle their marriage. Monica’s sister, Carla Burgos, told RadarOnline.com exclusively: "There were witnesses who heard someone screaming and calling for help,” in the swanky hotel. Cardana tells RadarOnline.com that there were no security cameras in that part of the resort. Several hotel employees were reportedly interviewed by Mexican investigators on Wednesday and generally agree on the events of that night. But details were not released.

Earlier Carla had said Bruce “has scratches on his arm," and the state investigator’s office confirms he also has scratches on his body.  The autopsy report released Thursday says Monica died from asphyxiation and suffocation.

DNA samples were taken from the crime scene and from the victim’s body, according to Cardana, and tests are underway. When Bruce was detained DNA samples were also taken from him and the results may be released on Monday.

DOCUMENTS: Fight Over Custody Of The Children

Investigators say the only thing standing in the way of an arrest now is the DNA results. Cardana says the information they get from the DNA results will be the determining factor for the possibility of extradition.

Bruce and Monica have two children, who are now in the custody of Bruce’s parents.
