The woman who lost her three children and parents in a tragic Christmas fire that destroyed her house has tried to take her own life.

Madonna Badger was hospitalized last week after a family member told the NY Daily News the mother purposely injured herself in an effort to escape the pain of losing her family.

"She is okay... She is out [of the hospital] and somewhere safe. It’s just terrible, nobody could really hold up well under the circumstances," the relative said.

Badger's Connecticut home went up in flames on December 25 after yule log embers were placed unsafely in a bag in the back mud room, taking the lives of her seven-year-old twins Grace and Sarah Badger, Lily Badger, 10, and her parents Lomer and Pauline Johnson.
Badger and her boyfriend Michael Borcina were the only survivors.

In the wake of her shocking suicide attempt nine days earlier, Amber Portwood had an emotional reunion with her two-year-old daughter, Leah, outside her Anderson, Ind., home on the morning of June 23, Star can report via RadarOnline.com.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Amber’s baby daddy, Gary Shirley, has physical custody of Leah, and Amber is supposed to have supervised visitation with their daughter one day a week for two hours.

An eyewitness tells Star, “Maybe there was an official from Child Protective Services inside her house, but I didn’t see anyone else outside with Amber and Leah except someone who looked like an MTV cameraman!”

The 21-year-old mother had a review of the custody arrangements set forth by Child Protective Services between her and baby daddy Gary Shirley on Wednesday and no changes were made, even though Portwood was released just one week prior from a 72-hour psych hold at St. Johns Hospital in Indiana after her attempted suicide.

“There were no changes and they did not mention Amber’s suicide attempt during the hearing,” Gary’s attorney, Jeff Lockwood, told RadarOnline.com.

“If she goes into the rehab program she can be re-evaluated for custody of Leah, but CPS will have to monitor how the treatment goes.”

“I am going to rehab for anger control issues and depression,” Amber, 21, told Star.

“I’m on medication at the moment to just help me relax. I’m in a vulnerable state right now and I know people want a lot of answers.”

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has had a rough time recently but the troubled young mom still has one person in her corner; on-again-off-again boyfriend Gary Shirley.

The reality-TV star took to his Facebook page on Saturday to speak out in support of Amber, 21, who was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday following a suicide attempt.

"I have made threatening comments before yes...but the last time was a year ago," Gary wrote on his Facebook wall.

"I have grown since and I really realized how much it hurts a mother and I'm deeply sorry for that."

A source close to the couple exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com that Gary is "trying to keep his mind off stuff with Amber by filling his time with friends" and that he joined a couple buddies for drinks at a local bar on Friday night in Indiana.

"I re-watch this stuff it kills me to see things I say or do and how childish-immature I look. I'm very pro-Amber," Gary said of his baby mama.

Amber was taken to St. John's hospital in Anderson, Indiana on Tuesday after Gary called 911 claiming the mother of his two-year-old daughter, Leah, had threatened to take her own life.

After being held at St. Johns Hospital on a 72-hour "psychiatric evaluation" Amber was released on Friday and is recovering at home.

Teen Mom star Gary Shirley was the target of baby mama Amber Portwood’s fury last week after she found photos and messages from other women in his cell phone, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

“Gary thought he lost his iPhone last week but he’d actually left it at Amber’s house,” a source close to the situation told us.

“Amber managed to crack his password and went through his phone. She found a bunch of messages from other girls and even pictures that girls had sent him!”
