Move over Steven Slater: A group of turtles slowly migrating toward their breeding ground temporarily halted traffic at busy New York transportation hub JFK Airport on Wednesday.

The turtles caused Runway 4L to temporarily cease operations, while workers cleared the shelled show-stoppers from the runway.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac told the NY Post the turtles may have caused “a few delays, but nothing significant."

"Running over turtles is not healthy for them nor is it good for our tires," JetBlue said in a a statement

Steven Slater - the former JetBlue flight attendant whose meltdown made him an instant celebrity - has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal mischief, and in exchange, he will not go to jail, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Slater entered the guilty plea to the two counts (one of which is a felony, the other a misdemeanor) Tuesday morning in a courtroom in Queens, New York.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Supreme Court Judge Marcia Hirsch delayed a one to three year sentence. However, the deal does requires that he enter a year-long mental health program and also receive substance and alcohol abuse counseling.

UPDATE: Slater has pleaded guilty to two counts of felony attempted criminal mischief. In exchange, he will not go to prison, but must enter a year-long mental health program and also receive substance and alcohol abuse counseling.

JetBlue, which had initially suspended Slater, has now confirmed he's been let go for good. An airline spokesperson said that the "separation"  occurred last week.

The mystery man was clearly playing up his part as Slater and Nardicio said he didn’t leave empty handed.

“At the end of the cruise the guy asked for a bottle of Belvedere Vodka because they were promoting the party,” Nardicio says. “So I said, ‘Sure, take a bottle.’

“Do I care? No, Not really. I think it’s funny. The guy must have been mistaken for Slater and figured why not go with it.”

Nardicio goes on to say, “I was duped, but all I lost was a bottle of vodka.”

Slater was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing, less than 24 hours after his on-board meltdown.  After cursing out his passengers over the PA system, he grabbed two beers, deployed the emergency slide, and exited the plane.

Slater initially told authorities that an altercation with a rude passenger who stood up and opened the overhead bin while the plane was still moving on its arrival at JFK, was what caused him to snap.
