Veteran actor Steve Landesberg, who played Detective Arthur Dietrich on the TV show Barney Miller, died of cancer Monday at 65, RadarOnline.com has learned.

"Steve was a true gentleman," said his agent, Jeffrey Leavitt. "Working with Steve was an honor both personally and professionally. He will be missed."

On Twitter, actor Michael McKean remembered Landesberg as "a friendly and funny good guy."

In addition to his role on Barney Miller, which ran from 1975 to 1982, Landesberg had also appeared on shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Golden Girls and Law & Order, as well as the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
