Shamed baseball player Barry Bonds has been sentenced to two years probation and 30 days home confinement for obstruction of justice, stemming from his evasive testimony to a 2003 grand jury during an investigation into steroids in sports.

In the San Francisco, Calif. courtroom on Friday, Bonds, 47, was also ordered by Judge Susan Illston to pay a $4,000 fine and perform 250 hours of community service.

A jury convicted the disgraced MLB star last April but deadlocked on three other charges accusing Bonds of perjury for allegedly lying when he denied taking performance-enhancing drugs and receiving injections from someone other than his doctor, reported CBSNews.com. The prosecution later dropped those charges, foregoing another trial.

Ryan Braun, the Milwaukee Brewers superstar, who won the National League's MVP award last month, has tested positive for steroid use.

He is facing a 50-game suspension, reports ESPN's Outside the Lines.

A spokesman for Braun confirmed the positive test and issued a statement:

"There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program. While Ryan has impeccable character and no previous history, unfortunately, because of the process we have to maintain confidentiality and are not able to discuss it any further, but we are confident he will ultimately be exonerated."

The 28-year-old Braun had to provide a urine sample for testing during the playoffs, and he was notified of the positive test sometime in late October -- about a month before he was named the National League's most valuable player.

Braun is considered one of the "faces" of pro baseball.  he is one of the highest-paid players and is signed to the Brewers until 2020.

Last Spring, when it was revealed that Alex Rodriguez had used steroids in the past, Braun was asked if he was surprised.

"I don't know if I would say I was surprised. I feel like it was so rampant, so prevalent, in baseball during that time period that not much surprises me anymore," he told MLB.com. "If anything, I was surprised he got caught, that it came out this long after he supposedly did it."

Braun is appealing the test results, an arbitration hearing will be held in January.

ESPN points out that no baseball player has ever successfully appealed a ruling about using performance enhancing drugs.

Prosecutors in the federal perjury case against Roger Clemens struck out Thursday, after U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton deemed a mistrial when they showed evidence to the jury he’d already ruled off-limits.

The 48-year-old baseball legend, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Yankees and Astros in his 23-year career, was accused of lying to a House committee in 2008 regarding his claims that he never used performance-enhancing substances.

The federal trial of Seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens begins with jury selection in Washington on Wednesday.

The court will select from a pool of 125 prospective jurors, all Washington residents, to compose the 12-person jury, with four alternates. Presiding U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton hopes the process will be completed by early next week.

In 2008 a high profile drug dealer gave cops a list of celebs who he claimed were using illegal body building drugs and Nelly was one of them.

"The only people who say that is people who don't work out. Anyone who goes to the gym knows what Nelly is doing is nothing," Nelly said at the time.

Nelly and his fabulous and all-natural abs will be appearing Saturday night in Vegas at The Paris Hotel and Casino where the rapper is hosting a Memorial Day Weekend party.
