Allan, a Bulgarian who changed the family's surname from "Ibrahimoff" to "Wilson" when they came to the United States, was the inspiration behind Hanks' role Viktor Navorksi in Spielberg's The Terminal. In the film, Hanks' Navorski is an Eastern European traveler who gets stuck at an airport for months due to a military coup in his native land.
