Sherry Johnston, 43, was convicted of a Class A felony, which carried a sentence of five to eight years. Her attorney asked for a shorter jail sentence because she possessed a small quantity of the drug and had no previous drug-related convictions.

She was charged in December with six felony drug counts involving a prescription painkiller. According to police documents, she received Oxycontin pills in the mail, and then sold 10 pills to a police informant three different times in October and November of 2008.

Sherry Johnston, the mother of Bristol Palin’s baby daddy Levi Johnston, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to one count of possession with intent to deliver the prescription painkiller oxycodone. She will be sentenced in November under a pre-approved deal that has her serving five years in prison, with two years suspended.
Levi and Bristol, the daughter of former Alaska governor and Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, have had an acrimonious break-up pitting the Johnston and Palin families against each other – with their infant son Tripp, in the middle.
Sherry was convicted of a Class A felony, which normally comes with a five to eight year sentence but her attorney Rex Butler was able to argue it down because his client had no previous convictions and the amount of the drug involved was small.
In an exclusive interview, Butler told RadarOnline.com that he’d hoped Mrs. Johnston could serve her sentence at home with ankle bracelet monitoring. “Her celebrity is a Catch-22,” he said. “The state doesn’t want to be seen as being too lenient or too hard.
Sherry’s son Levi’s biggest concern right now is getting his ex-girlfriend’s tattoed name off his hand.

Tripp Johnston has two very famous grandmothers.
One is Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska and former Vice Presidential candidate.
The other is Sherry Johnston, who struck a deal in a Palmer, Alaska court earlier today on drug possession charges.
With the state of Alaska agreeing to drop five of the six charges against her, Johnston will plead “no contest” to a single felony count of possessing the painkiller OxyContin with intent to sell it, her attorney Rex Butler told RadarOnline.com.
