Sheraton Universal Hotel: The Good... And The Bad

First, the good news: The Sheraton Universal hotel is all about location, location, location. Two minutes down the hill from Universal Studios and City walk, it is perfectly located to take advantage of the tour, the rides, and the shows at Gibson Amphitheatre and City Walk. If you don’t plan on spending much time in the hotel, it’s a fine spot to set up camp. Also, the prices are downright inexpensive. Figure on $139 for an average room.

The bad news: The rooms are small and cramped. Only the suites have a tiny patio. The service is just adequate. The pool is pint sized and the pool café /bar was sporadically staffed even on a Saturday.
Bottom Line: If you’ll be spending all day out playing, then the hotel is fine. As such, it’s much more a tourist hotel than a destination resort.

This is not your parents Hilton. The newly refurbished AAA four-diamond rated Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, CA is a lovely vacation hotel, with plenty of amenities, new, marble bathrooms, the famous “Serenity Bed” and in the more expensive rooms, breath-taking ocean views.
Taking full advantage of it’s location in “Surf City’ on a beautiful stretch of beach, they offer bike rentals, cabanas, “S’mores and more” (everything you need for a bonfire of the beach to roast marshmallows), tennis courts, and even a “safari cart” to run you down to the Huntington Pier (gratis!)
