Modern Family's Sarah Hyland Reveals Disease: 'My Dad Gave Me A Freakin’ Kidney!'

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland tells Seventeen magazine she's been living with a disease called kidney dysplasia, and had to get a kidney transplant last month from her father in her ongoing battle with the debilitating condition.
"You know that family is always going to be there for you -- no matter what. My dad gave me a freakin’ kidney!" Hyland, 21, told the magazine of the surgery, which took place April 13. "But it's also the families that you create outside of your family. And you really find out what kind of people you're friends with … it really opened my eyes to see who's there for me and who's not."

Sarah, who plays Haley Dunphy on the ABC hit, said her boyfriend Mark Prokop has done yeoman's work in assisting her in her recovery, showing poise, loyalty and maturity beyond his years.

The country cutie hit the KCA on Saturday in a totally sexy Old Hollywood glam Maria Lucia Hohan halter bustier dress, which she perfectly paired with Nicholas Kirkwood metallic sandals and Lorraine Schwartz bling. She followed it up on Sunday at the ACMs, dominating the country crowd in a white and gold J. Mendel gown that featured cutout sides, paired with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz bling again.
Did Jada Pinkett Smith get styled by Willow for the Kids’ Choice Awards? The actress clearly was trying to fit in with the youthful crowd, wearing a hot pink Catherine Malandrino jumpsuit with a denim jacket and chunky wedges. And how about that hair?

Julie Bowen doesn't just play the mom of Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland on Modern Family. She mothers them off screen too!
"I go to her with all my boy problems," Ariel tells Star. "I'm like, 'Tell me! What do I do? Do I like this person or do I not?'
"She asks me, 'Does he text you and ask about you, or does he talk about himself?'" Ariel, 14, explains. "And I'm like, 'He texts me about me.' And she's like, 'He's a good one.'... She asks me those questions and helps me realize what I'm looking for."
And Julie, who also has three real-life kids of her own, shows on-screen daughter Sarah the same kind of loving attention. "Sarah is 21. She needs my advice like she needs a hole in the head," Julie, 42, tells Star. "But I have been known to occasionally go to her house and just tidy up.... I do feel maternal towards her and protective."
