Two Florida students impersonating Russian basketball fans fooled a lot of people – including a respected journalist - at a Miami Heat game earlier this week, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Florida Atlantic University freshman Bradley Springer and high schooler Jonathan Taylor painted their faces and put on their best Russian accents for Tuesday's exhibition game against CSKA Moscow.

Impersonating Pavel and Yuri Kopeche – two brothers and CSKA fans who moved to Florida five years ago - the pair intended to just “mess with people” but instead quickly became celebrities when they were approached by the media for interviews.
The following day, the duo appeared on the front page of the sports section of the Miami Herald but when one media outlet began to speculate whether the pair was actually Russian, they confessed.
Springer contacted a Miami reporter and confirmed that the “brothers” were not Russian and that the “Kopeche” character was born on a trip to Italy last year with friends.

In an interview with Miami New Times, Springer said "We saw the story online on our way home, and I could not stop laughing. I haven't laughed that much ever!"
Springer also tells the newspaper he wasn't trying to destroy the reputation of the Miami Herald’s reporter who fell for it, "If she gets in trouble, that wasn't our intention at all," he says. "I would feel bad about that."

Despite the controversy, the pair plan on continuing their charade and have even started a Facebook fan page for their characters

On Friday, the superstar taped the PSA and toured the New York Call Center for the Trevor Project, the leading 24/7 suicide prevention organization for gay and questioning youth.
Daniel says his sensitivity to homophobia started at an early age. "I grew up knowing a lot of gay men and it was never something that I even thought twice about — that some men were gay and some weren't," the "Harry Potter" said Friday. "And then I went to school and (for) the first time ... I came across homophobia. ... I had never encountered it before. It shocked me.”
Radcliffe, who described himself as '”gently eccentric” and “slightly different” says "I've always felt very lucky to have the life that I've had. I never had to cope with anything serious about my religion or sexual orientation or anything like that.”

He adds "I think it's important for somebody from a big, commercial movie series like Harry Potter and particularly because I am not gay or bisexual or transgendered. ... The fact that I am straight makes not a difference, but it shows that straight people are incredibly interested and care a lot about this as well."

Other celebrity donors are Meredith Vieira, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jodie Foster, Neil Patrick Harris and Anne Hathaway.

"Dear Andy Kaufman: I Hate Your Guts!"

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE:
Looking for a great gift for the pop culture aficionado in your life? Or perhaps your uber feminist friend? You gotta get them “Dear Andy Kaufman, I Hate Your Guts!” One of the most misunderstood yet genius comedians of the 70s and 80s—Andy Kaufman fooled the world by disguising himself in crazy characters (um, yeah, who do you think paved the way for Sacha Baron Cohen to get away with Bruno and Borat?). Andy would open for himself as sleazy lounge singer “Tony Clifton” or never really break character as strange foreigner Latka while on the set of the classic sitcom Taxi.
PHOTOS: Bruno Hits Hollywood!
But, “Dear Andy Kaufman, I Hate Your Guts!” focuses on Andy’s other passion—professional wrestling. Many believe he was fascinated with it because so many wrestlers “fooled” their audiences with their characters and made-up storylines—just like Andy. And so, in 1979 Andy went on live TV and claimed that he was the "Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World." He famously challenged women around the country to take him on in the wrestling ring—and win $1000 if they could pin him down! He also promised to shave his head if a woman defeated him and also said he would marry that woman too! Needless to say, women everywhere were shocked, outraged and offended and the letters started pouring in. “Dear Andy Kaufman, I Hate Your Guts!” is simply a collection of these amazing hand written letters, photographs and illustrations from woman that wanted nothing more but to take him down in the ring.
Either as a gift or for your own personal amusement (and infuriation over Andy’s audacity), you must get it! Some of our favorite excerpts include:
“I would enjoy nothing more in this entire galaxy than to come to the defense of all female species by pulverizing you on national TV.”
“Give me a chance and I could wrestle you and win, until you cry and plead with me for mercy. I am a punk woman and I intend to overtake you.”
“I can beat you because of an infamous wrestling hold I use. The Tickler. . . You’ll need an ambulance to taxi you off the stage when the match is over.”
“You must be insane, you’re nothing but a scrawny little stick man. You have no meat on your body, you’re just flesh and bones. Why I could whip you in nothing flat.”
Is Brüno savvy social commentary, or offensive polemic? Riotous satire, or simply misguided?

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE:
The DVD, which arrived this week, reveals that it may be all that and more. In new commentary, writer/producer Sacha Baron Cohen tacitly addresses the debate that has swirled around Brüno since it hit theaters last June, revealing his intentions through anecdotes and discussion with director Larry Charles. As the titular star, Cohen plays a gay TV host from Austria who travels to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming a big celebrity. Flamboyant, brash and over-the-top, Brüno's interviews intentionally push boundaries and ravage cultural mores, much in the way that Cohen's other alter ego, Ali G, did in his long-running television show and feature film.
Watching our fearless fashionista travel everywhere from a terrorist holdout in the Middle East to a charity PR firm in Los Angeles, Brüno's sexuality is less an end than the means through which Cohen hopes to disguise his ulterior motives. With a penchant for pushing buttons and a German-inflected potty mouth, Brüno distracts his targets with exaggerated mannerisms and outlandish outfits (vinyl is one of his favorite materials). It's not hard to see how Cohen could be criticized for taking his homosexual schtick too far (the tongue-heavy mime scene may be a bit much), but he plays Brüno to such extremes that the character is ultimately just a conduit for the film's real agenda.
