Chris Brown finally had his day in court.
After weeks of anticipation in the felony battery case against the pop star, concerning his ex-girlfriend and victim Rihanna, a plea deal has been reached that will see Brown serve community labor and domestic violence classes.
Today in Los Angeles Superior Court, Brown appeared to face the District Attorney and serious potential charges for the incident, that left Rihanna bruised and bloody after an altercation in Brown's car over Grammy Weekend in February.

Brown, in a gray suit accompanied by matching attorney Mark Geragos, pled guilty to felony assault. A five-year probation was issued, with 180 days of community labor in his resident state of Virginia.
In addition to the 180 days, he's also required to complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program. A "stay away" order has also been issued to protect Rihanna, real name Robyn Fenty, up to 50 yards on any given day and 10 yards should the stars cross paths at industry events like award shows and parties.
Brown was supported by several family members, and admitted with a measured "Yes" that he understood the charges raised against him.
The singer will appear on August 5th for formal sentencing.
Rihanna was on-site for today's events, clad in black and donning pearls. The DA indicated the plea deal was explained to her at 12:30 p.m., submitted for her approval. She did not object to any of the parameters.

While the charge remains a felony assault, Brown can apply to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor once he successfully completes the terms of his probation.
At present, Brown will be due in Los Angeles court every three months, in person, for progress reports.
