Style chameleon Katy Perry hit the red carpet of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, debuting a brand new hair color – and RadarOnline.com has all the exclusive details about her tress transformation from the woman behind her look – celebrity hair colorist Rita Hazan.
“It was such an exciting challenge to custom-create Katy’s color for her big reveal at the VMA’s,” said Hazan, who has transformed the locks of everyone from Jessica Simpson to Jennifer Lopez.
The NYC based stylist, who has taken the sassy songbird from her raven shade, to red, to blonde and now to her new pastel look, dishes that the pastel hue was Katy’s idea.

“In her mind I think she was just feeling that color at the moment,” she explains.
