Unlike Gotham or Metropolis, Newark doesn’t need a super hero to rescue residents in distress, from now on they can just call their mayor when crisis strikes.

Cory Booker, who has been Mayor of New Jersey’s largest city since 2006, claims he was just doing “what most neighbors would do,” when he ran into a building to save a woman on Thursday evening and faced a fiery blaze that left him with second-degree burns and smoke inhalation, reported ABCNews.com.

By Debbie Emery - Radar Reporter

As passengers desperately struggled to escape the capsized Costa Concordia cruise ship, a group of rich Russians reportedly bribed crewmembers to get coveted spots on the life boats.

Italian officials are reportedly investigating whether expensively dressed Eastern Europeans stuffed handfuls of cash into the pockets of cruise line staff after the massive vessel hit a reef on January 13, reported the Sun.co.uk.

A resident who lives on the island of Giglio near where the ship capsized four miles off course has revealed that instead of seeing women, children and wounded when the first life boats reached dry land, she was shocked to come face-to-face with, "healthy men and elegant women in evening gowns who were speaking Russian," Franca Anichini told German media.

It all happened Saturday morning in the coastal town of Canberra, Australia.

A Cheetah S200, an ultralight plane, slammed into the Ferris wheel, becoming ensnared in its wires and cables like a spider in a web.

Fortunately, because of impending rain, the Ferris wheel had just emptied out except for two riders who wanted one final ride. They were a boy, 9, and a girl, 13.

While her husband Jesse James was recently reunited with his beloved dog Cinnabun, Sandra Bullock had her own shining canine moment on Friday.

The actress was spotted stepping out of her car to try and protect a runaway dog.

Jesse James Reunited With His Beloved Dog CinnaBun

Parked in traffic on a busy street in Southern California, the actress tried clapping her hands and calling out to the tiny white pooch in hopes of getting it out of harms way. It was running against traffic in the middle of a left turn-designated lane.

Bullock was not alone in her pursuit. The man in the car in front of her also poked out of his car to survey the situation.

Hopefully all of her good deeds will pay off in some statuette goodwill at the Academy Awards on March 7.
