After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, actress Maria Bello and a group of women started the WE ADVANCE charity to improve the health, safety and well-being of women throughout the slums of the ravished country's capital city, Port-au-Prince.

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie landed in Haiti Tuesday and headed to a Doctors Without Borders Hospital in the Delmas neighborhood of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported Jolie was in the Dominican Republic Monday, visiting with Haitian children that are in the neighboring country to receive medical treatment following the devastating 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th, killing more than 200,000 people.

Jolie also took time to meet with the President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez at the presidential National Palace.

Angelina takes her role as Goodwill Ambassador seriously, and never lets the threat of danger or disease get in the way of her duties. She has previously visited other war torn and disaster damaged countries with the UNHCR to raise awareness of the plight of the world's refugees, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sudan.

Angelina also isn't afraid to put her money where her mouth is, she, along with partner Brad Pitt, was one of the first in Hollywood to rush to the aid of Haiti, following news of the massive quake, donating $1 million to assist in rescue efforts.

Angelina Jolie jetted off to the Dominican Republic Monday following her short stop in Miami where she joined Brad Pitt and eldest son Maddox to cheer on the New Orleans Saints to victory in the Super Bowl.

Angelina toured the pediatric wing of Dario Contreras Hospital in Santa Domingo with it’s director Hector Quezada and Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, the son of famed Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa.
Angelina also met with the President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez at the presidential National Palace.

It is reported that Jolie, who serves as a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF, will travel to the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday.
Angelina, along with partner Brad Pitt, where among the first in Hollywood to offer their support to the ravaged country, donating $1million to Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

As yet another powerful earthquake hit Haiti Wednesday, Heroes star Jimmy Jean-Louis, exclusively for RadarOnline.com, continues to chronicle his heartbreaking journey back to his native land of Haiti as it recovers from last week’s devastating quake that has left the country in ruins.
