Former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez has issued a public apology to Jon Stewart and “anyone else” he offended.

Sanchez was dumped by the network after calling Stewart a bigot during a satellite radio interview and also making anti-Semitic remarks. He did not directly address his comments about Jews running the media in the apology he released Wednesday.

Here is the full statement he released through a publicist, courtesy of tampabay.com:

"On October 4th, I had a very good conversation with Jon Stewart, and I had the opportunity to apologize for my inartful comments from last “\week.  I sincerely extend this apology to anyone else whom I may have offended.  
 
“As Jon was kind enough to note in his show Monday night, I am very much opposed to hate and intolerance, in any form, and I have frequently spoken out against prejudice. Despite what my tired and mangled words may have implied, they were never intended to suggest any sort of narrow-mindedness  and should never have been made.

“In the aftermath of these comments, CNN and I have decided to part ways. However, I want to go on record to say that I have nothing but the highest regard for CNN and for my six wonderful years with them.  I appreciate every opportunity that they have given me, and it has been a wonderful experience working for them. I have tremendous respect for everyone there, and I know that they feel the same about me.  There are no hard feelings – just excitement about a new future of opportunities.

“I look forward to my next step with great anticipation.  In the meantime, I will continue to promote my book, Conventional Idiocy, in the hopes of broadening the discussion to get a better understanding between all Americans, regardless of race, creed or religion."

CNN host Rick Sanchez had a “live grenade in his mouth and he pulled the pin” when he gave the radio interview that led to his firing.

That’s according to Pete Dominick, the host who conducted the now infamous satellite radio interview where Sanchez called Jon Stewart a bigot and made anti-Semitic remarks.

“I didn’t really want him to do the radio show,” Dominick said, noting that Sanchez is not the type of guest he normally works with.

“I didn’t really want to say no.

“But Rick Sanchez came in the studio on Thursday with a live grenade in his mouth and pulled the pin. I tried to put it back for him but he wasn’t having it. He apparently had an agenda to unleash on Jon Stewart not knowing that I worked at The Daily Show and I know Jon and that I know his bosses and quite a few Jewish people.”

CNN anchor Rick Sanchez was fired from the company on Friday just one day after he called Jon Stewart a bigot, RadarOnline.com can report.

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company,” CNN said in a released statement.

“We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.”

The announcement comes as a surprise, but explains why Sanchez was notably absent from Friday’s Rick’s List and was replaced by Brooke Baldwin.

CNN severed ties with Sanchez after he made comments on the Stand Up! with Pete Dominick radio show saying Stewart was a bigot and that CNN was “run by Jews.”

“I think Jon Stewart’s a bigot,” Sanchez said on the Sirius radio show Thursday.

“He grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could imagine. He’s a bigot against everyone who’s not like him.”

The anchor’s comments are creating a media frenzy as Sanchez tried to make the point that if right wing pundits are going to be termed “prejudiced” then should liberals like Stewart.

On the Stand Up! with Pete Dominick radio show Sanchez said he doesn’t “buy” that the only people who are prejudice out there are people from the right. And he added, “I think Jon’s show is essentially prejudicial. He can’t related to a guy like me, a guy whose dad worked all his life…to someone who grew up poor.”
