“I thought during the 22 months of my husband’s illness that it gave me all this time to get used to the idea of losing him,” she shared. “I found myself that when I actually got to this point I said, ‘No no no’..It wasn’t the same at all.”

Going on to say, "The actual loss is like an animal all of its own. It made all sadness and grief previous to that look like an intellectual concept. It's almost -- when the grief takes over, your body is not your own... I know I just have to go through it, and it's going to take as long as it's going to take."

Niemi admitted that at some point she wanted to feel like she had the courage to go on and have a good life but,  “In the first few days after [Patrick's death], I felt like that would almost be a betrayal. That I would be letting him down somehow, and of course everyone's saying to me, 'Trust me, this is what he would have wanted’”

But Somers told a reporter that the chemo was poison and the star should have used alternative methods.

“They took a beautiful man,” and “put poison in his body,” she told columnist Shinan Govani. “Why couldn’t they have built him up nutritionally and gotten rid of the toxins? I hate to be controversial…but I have to speak out.” She made the comments just hours after Swayze’s death.

RadarOnline.com verified with Somers’ management that the former Three’s Company star made those comments. Govani also told RadarOnline.com that Somers’ quotes were accurate and said he wasn’t interviewing her but it was “party talk.” at a Toronto Film Festival event. He said she did not know he was a journalist and also said she had just lost many friends to cancer and that traditional methods of treating cancer are failing.

Govani told RadarOnline.com that Somers said to him: “People won’t listen to me. If only they would listen to me,”

Asked if Suzanne would talk to RadarOnline.com to explain or expound on her feelings about Swayze’s treatment, a member of her management team said: “Suzanne isn’t going to be doing any interviews presently about her comments on the tragic passing of Patrick Swayze.”
