In the 25 years that she has been on the air, Oprah has run the gamut of entertainment and serious news.

From teaching the correct technique of sexual performance to crying on the stage when the first black president was elected, Oprah Winfrey’s show impacted American culture and made her the richest person in entertainment. RadarOnline.com remembers her most significant moments:

The show that Oprah called her “biggest, fattest” mistake was in 1998 when she wheeled out 67 pounds of fat to show how much weight she had lost. “I had literally starved myself for four months – not a morsel of food – to get into that pair of size 10 Calvin Klein jeans,” Oprah has said. “Two hours after that show I started eating to celebrate-of course, within two days those jeans no longer fit.”
Oprah's at home interview with Michael Jackson showed the King of Pop during a rare appearance. On the episode he revealed that he suffered from the skin pigment disorder known as Vitiligo. In a later episode, Oprah asked Lisa Marie Presley about her marriage to the Jackson and her comment was “Holy mother of God!”

Never mess with Oprah’s Book Club! After it was revealed that James Frey, author of A Million Little Pieces, made up the major points in his story, Oprah had him back on to her show in 2006 to chastise him publicly for lying to her. Oprah told Frey “I feel duped and disappointed. I feel that you conned us all.”

At the premiere of Oprah’s 19th season she surprised the audience in September 2004 by giving all 276 guests and brand new Pontiac G-6 2005 sports sedan! Winfrey jumped up and down on her stage screaming “Everybody gets a car! Everybody gets a car!”

However, the most memorable moment of all may be in 2005, when Tom Cruise started his major career crash by couch surfing on the Oprah show. Jumping up and down on the sofa, pumping his fists and declaring his love for Katie Holmes, while forgetting how the two met, stands out as the beginning of his decline in popularity. Oprah was shocked, viewers went crazy, and the couch surfing spawned parodies of the incident on the internet and television.

“Twenty five years feels right in my bones and right in my spirit,” she told her audience, at times tearing up during the announcement. “It is the exact right time.” Winfrey also acknowledged her loyal fan base: “For some of you long time Oprah viewers you have literally grown up with me. You have your family and you raised your children and you left a spot for me in your morning and afternoon...[that] has brought me the greatest joy I have ever known.”

Oprah Winfrey's production company, Harpo, released a statement Thursday saying Oprah will announce the date of her last show on a Friday taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Sarah Palin Tells Oprah: “Levi’s Still Part Of The Family”
In January Oprah announced the launch of her own TV network, aptly named OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, in conjunction with Discovery Communications.
OWN's mission is to create multiple platforms for women, men and their families with a purpose and a passion: to celebrate life, to inspire and entertain, empowering viewers around the world to live their best lives, and by doing so, lift the lives of those around them in ever-widening circles.
It is thought that Oprah plans to move her hit show to the OWN network, which is as of yet to launch.

With the holidays quickly approaching, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is putting together her invites for Thanksgiving dinner…and there’s one name that shockingly could make the list!
Palin sat down with Oprah Winfrey in an interview set to air on Monday, November 16, where she reveals that she still considers her grandson’s father, Levi Johnston, part of the family.

When asked if Johnston, 19, will be invited to Thanksgiving dinner, Palin responds, “you know, that’s an interesting question. And it’s lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing. Because, of course, you want—he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing.”
Johnston, who is father to Palin’s grandson Tripp (mom is Sarah’s daughter Bristol Palin), has been the center of controversy since announcing his intention to pose nude for Playgirl Magazine. Johnston has also been bad-mouthing his once future mother-in-law, telling the press that Palin referred to her youngest son Trigg (who has Down Syndrome) as “retarded.”

But Palin tells Oprah she doesn’t take it to heart.
“I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child and this can all work out for good. It really can,” she said. “We don’t have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama all the time. We’re not really into the drama. We don’t really like that. We’re more productive. We have other things to concentrate on.”
Sarah Palin Will Finally Appear On Oprah
Oprah also delved into Palin’s now infamous interview with Katie Couric during which she was heavily criticized by the press.
“Must we?” Palin asks Winfrey, adding that she didn’t consider the interview a defining moment in her career. “And neither did the campaign,” she said of the 2008 election. “In fact, that’s why segment 2 and 3 and 4 and maybe 5 were scheduled. The campaign said, ‘Right on. Good. You’re showing your independence.”

Oprah Winfrey has scored a much sought after interview with former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and one late night host is not happy about it.
The Late Show host David Letterman appeared miffed Thursday night at the former vice-presidential candidate for choosing Oprah over his Late Show.
This past summer, David Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to appear on his show after the controversy over his sexual comments regarding Palin's underage daughter and Alex Rodriguez. "We wanted Sarah Palin to be on our program and she decided to be on Oprah. I'm beginning to think she doesn't like me"

Madonna was on hand, and hands on, during a recent school groundbreaking in Malawi. The pop star got her hands dirty when she dug up some soil at the site for a new girls academy she is building.

With her eldest daughter Lourdes at her side, Madonna cut cake, planted a tree and turned sod at a ceremony which drew 1,000 locals. "After seeing all the hard working Malawian women who are looking after families and communities, I realized how much they deserve to be educated," said Madonna.
According to a brochure for the Raising Malawi Girls Academy, it will be a "leadership institution to prepare future women leaders" with 500 boarders from each of the country's 28 districts. The school is modeled on the academy Oprah Winfrey set up in South Africa. It will take two years to build.

With two of her children-Mercy James and David Banda- having been adopted from Malawi, Madonna has been committed to aiding the impoverished country. She has already built a multi-purpose community center which looks after nearly 8,000 orphans.
