Musicians Come Together to Help Victims of the Gulf Coast Oil Spill

The ongoing Gulf oil spill crisis in Louisiana has brought together some of Hollywood’s most respected musicians -- and all for a good cause benefiting the victims of the Gulf Coast spill.
Artists including members of the former band Jefferson Airplane, Berlin, Alabama, The Righteous Brothers, The Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt have joined forces to record a song benefiting Louisiana’s musical legacy, as well as the area’s local fishermen.

Kevin Costner has spent more than 15 years and $20 million on developing a device designed to separate oil from water, and the device is currently being tested by oil company BP in their quest to stop the ongoing oil spill in Gulf of Mexico, the Oscar winning director and actor told Good Morning America on Monday.

"I'm not a spokesman for anybody, but the ecosystem can't speak for itself," Costner said. "They're wondering where an answer is. And I'm not on a white horse. I'm not the savior to this thing.
Director James Cameron Weighs In On Plugging Massive Oil Spill

Oscar winning director James Cameron has taken Hollywood by the horns, now he's trying his hand in the Gulf of Mexico: the Avatar filmmaker met with officials, scientists and engineers Tuesday, RadarOnline.com has learned, in a summit meeting to stop the massive oil spill that’s been raging since April 20.
Cameron, who has been praised for his groundbreaking underwater filming techniques and use of remote vehicles, collaborated with the Environmental Protection Agency in ways to curb the damage of the country's worst oil spill ever.
The meeting, according to the EPA, was "part of the federal government’s ongoing efforts to hear from stakeholders, scientists and experts from academia, government and the private sector as we continue to respond to the BP oil spill.”
