‘The Protester’ Named Time's Person Of The Year

From Egypt to Libya to Wall Street, the disenchanted masses have made their voices heard in 2011, and Time Magazine, in turn, has named "The Protester" their Person of the Year.

Managing editor Richard Stengel announced the winner on Wednesday’s edition of The Today Show. He said finalists included the year's most famous bride, Kate Middleton;  Admiral William H. McRaven, who helped lead the Navy SEAL operation that captured Osama Bin Laden; and Congressman Paul Ryan.

Stengel said that late Apple founder Steve Jobs is well-remembered in the magazine, but the purpose of the issue is not “a lifetime achievement award,” but who made the biggest impact in the calendar year, positive or not.

A-list beauty Anne Hathaway has occupied Wall Street.

The 29-year-old, who's slated to play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, joined her boyfriend Adam Shulman in the anti-corporate demonstration at Union Square in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, and RadarOnline.com has the photos.

Police officers decked out in riot gear arrested about 70 individuals in New York's Zuccotti Park early Tuesday ending the Occupy Wall Street demonstration that's been going on there since September, RadarOnline.com can report.

Police officers decked out in riot gear arrested about 70 individuals in New York's Zuccotti Park early Tuesday ending the Occupy Wall Street demonstration that's been going on there since September, RadarOnline.com can report.

Authorities hit the scene at approximately 1 a.m. ET, handing out notices from police and the park's owner (Brookfield Office Properties) informing the protesters they had to clear out because the area had become unsanitary and hazardous.

"The police are forming a human shield," Occupy Wall Street member Rabbi Chaim Gruber told the AP, "and are pushing everyone away."
