Unlike Gotham or Metropolis, Newark doesn’t need a super hero to rescue residents in distress, from now on they can just call their mayor when crisis strikes.

Cory Booker, who has been Mayor of New Jersey’s largest city since 2006, claims he was just doing “what most neighbors would do,” when he ran into a building to save a woman on Thursday evening and faced a fiery blaze that left him with second-degree burns and smoke inhalation, reported ABCNews.com.

They lined the streets to pay their respects to a pop diva. Now Newark, New Jersey residents are outraged that $187,000 of their money will be used to pay for policing Whitney Houston’s funeral.

Nearly 200 cops were on hand to keep the crowds away from the singer’s glitzy ceremony on February 18. While celebrities like Kevin Costner and Alicia Keyes paid respect to the singer in New Hope Baptist Church, thousands of residents grieved in the cold outside.

“Yeah, I’m not a fan,” Handler told journalist Katie Couric in a new interview with Glamour magazine.

The blunt comedienne has been notorious for siding with pal Jennifer Aniston, and as RadarOnline.com previously reported, Handler called Jolie a “c*nt” and a “b*tch” during a stand-up performance over the weekend in Newark, New Jersey.

On Monday night,  Handler made a point to defend her harsh comments about The Tourist actress on her late night E! show Chelsea Lately, saying she’s been using Jolie as a punching bag in her comedy routines for years.

"Can I just say that I've been making fun of Angelina Jolie since she made out with her brother?" Handler said, referring to the actress famously kissing her brother James Haven on the lips in 2000 after winning the best supporting actress Academy Award for her performance in Girl Interrupted.
