Rapper Nelly has gotten caught up in a very public war of words with a man claiming to be his ex-manager.

Grammy-winning hip-hop superstar Nelly extended an exclusive invitation to RadarOnline.com to hang with him on the set of his latest music video, Just a Dream, on the beaches of Los Angeles, where he opened up about love, loss and his healthy competition with Jay-Z.
“It’s one I think people can relate to,” Nelly explains about his new song that is about “loving and losing and wanting to love again.”

Though the singer never mentions his past relationship with fellow hip-hop sensation Ashanti, he does seem to have a personal connection to the ballad.

“It’s about wanting that girl back, and the only time I get a chance to have her is in my dreams.”
In the video, in which a 2011 Ford Mustang convertible hangs from a crane over the ocean, his “dream girl” is Vampire Diaries star and aspiring singer Kat Graham, who frolics on the beach in a paper-thin white dress.

Nelly, who has been under the radar the past few years, opens up about the hardships and pain he has suffered, losing his sister and two grandfathers to cancer.
“This cancer thing. I don’t know what it is, but it’s on me,” he admits, going on to explain how he copes. “You try and do the best you can. You don’t want anyone feeling sorry for you and things of that nature. It’s not my style.”
When asked about the on court competition between himself and pal Jay-Z (Nelly has part ownership in the Charlotte Bobcats and Jay-Z in the New Jersey Nets) the rapper admits that they “haven’t tango’d like that.”

“I don’t think he wants to! We made the playoffs last year. I don’t know what the Nets did,” he jokes competitively. “I don’t think he want none of that right now!”
After skyrocketing to success in the early 2000’s with hits such as Country Grammar and Hot in Herre, the rapper is on his way to a classic comeback with the latest single off the yet to be released 5.0, which will hit stores on November 16th.
