Posted on Jun 01, 2010 @ 01:55PM - 26 comments

Former Vice President Al Gore has separated from his wife of 40 years Tipper, RadarOnline.com has learned.
The Associated Press got an email from Gore saying the separation was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration."
62-year-old Al Gore ran for president in 2000 and lost amid controversial election results in Florida which became the subject of an HBO movie called Recount.
Gore, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, gained international fame and popularity after his film An Inconvenient Truth won an Oscar in best documentary in 2006.
Tipper was a controversial figure in the early 90s when she voiced strong support in labeling records that she thought may be profane.
The couple’s holdings are massive. Just this April, The Gores bought a $8.8 million ocean view villa in Montecito, California—which is also home to Oprah Winfrey.
They also own a 10,000 square foot mansion in Belle Meade, Tenn.
The couple just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 19. They have four children—Kareena, Kristin, Sarah and Albert III.

Avril released a statement on her blog Thursday confirming the breakup.
"Deryck and I have been together for 6 and a half years," Lavigne writes. "We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21. I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note. Thank you to all my family, friends and fans for all your support."
According to insiders Whibley, 29, is reportedly 'crushed' that the marriage is over but he must also be 'distraught' that he is no longer living at the stunning mansion which was previously owned by fellow rocker Travis Barker.
Lavigne splashed-out $9.5 million to purchase the 12,184 sq ft Tuscan style mansion in the gated Bel Air community in 2007.
The three story mansion on Stratford Circle boasts eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, an elevator, office, high tech kitchen, 10 car garage, steam room, spa, landscaped gardens and outdoor swimming pool.
