Michael Emerson, who plays Benjamin Linus on ABC's hit show Lost, dished on the show and his own career path in a new interview with Fancast.com as his time on the island winds to a close.
Emerson said he has a wealth of great of memories in filming scenes for the ABC hit, from the dramatic to the humorous to the absurd.

"My favorite light-hearted scene [to film was] cooking dinner for Juliet," he told Fancast.com. "It was so much fun, so out of character and so absurdly domestic of Benjamin. And in my entire life as an actor I will never forget shooting the scene where John Locke is trying to hang himself, I talk him out of it, and then I strangle him. Unbelievable.”
Emerson told the Web site he won't miss the "guns, explosions, and horseback riding" when filming wraps.
Emerson said that after Lost, he thinks "it would be nice to take a little break from the routine of television and mix it up for a little while.
"Maybe I could finagle my way into a little part in a movie, or do a play back in New York,” he said. “I sure hope I get a change of pace -- I’d like to do something funny."
One place he has a foot in the door: HBO hit True Blood, the show on which his wife, Carrie Preston, is a regular on.
"I am known to some people over there, yes -- [but] when are they going to call me up and put me to work, I do not know," he said.
We're sure this Lost star will find his way, no pun intended.
Lost airs on ABC Tuesdays at 9/8c.
EXCLUSIVE: Lost Star Michael Emerson "Surprised" By Emmy Nomination
Posted on Jul 16, 2009 @ 11:58AM - 1 comment

Actor Michael Emerson says he was thrilled, but somewhat taken aback to be nominated for another Emmy as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as creepy Ben Linus in ABC's Lost.
"It is exciting, I was surprised. I thought they may have moved on to newer fresher looks. I am flattered someone is still looking at our show," Emerson told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive phone interview Thursday morning.
Emerson learned about the Emmy nod when his agent called him Thursday in New York and woke him up.
This is actually the third time Emerson has been nominated for an Emmy for his role in Lost. He hasn't won for Lost, but in 2001, Emerson did snag an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for playing William Hinks on ABC's The Practice.
He says he’s also thrilled that the show was nominated for Best Drama Series.
We asked Michael how a good kid from Iowa can play such a creepy character like Ben. Do they have anything in common? Said Emerson: "I supposed over time, the more I play him, the more he is kindred to me. I won't say I'm like him, but I guess I spent so much time playing him. It's a little more obvious. He's a good listener, and has a dry sense of humor. He doesn't make rash decisions, so we have a number of things in common."
Emerson has a history of playing dangerous or damaged characters, and he says he usually gets a bizarre reaction when fans recognize him on the street.
"They express shock or fear or intimidation, but also really delighted to run into me. They have mixed emotions, kind of a happy terror. They tend to be very formal with me, and not over familiar."
Emerson -- who lives in Hawaii eight months a year while shooting Lost -- calls the eventual end of the series a "bittersweet affair." He adds: "It will be sad to leave a part that is such a good fit to me, a part that brings such attention. It will be nice to take up residence in North America and be closer to friends and loved ones."
At the top of that "loved one" list: Emerson's actress/wife Carrie Preston, who has appeared on Lost and now stars on HBO's True Blood.
As for the most common question he gets asked by fans? The answer may not surprise you. Emerson says: "They think I know how its going to end. I don't know and I am glad I don't know."
So what's next for the seasoned actor, who has appeared both on stage and screen? "It would be nice if there was a good play. I honestly don't know what will happen. I will be looking to have a change of pace."
EXCLUSIVE CELEBRITY VIDEO BLOG: True Blood's Carrie Preston & "Lost" Hubby Michael Emerson Hit The Red Carpet

True Blood's Carrie Preston gives radaronline.com exclusive all access to her house, her hubby (Michael Emerson of Lost), and the red hot premiere party preps.
Only RadarOnline.com cameras went behind the scenes with Carrie Tuesday night as she showed us what it takes to get red carpet ready....there's the perfectly coiffed blonde 'do, she's ditched the dark wig that Arlene's sassy single mom wears. Her digits are just plain devilish with a burst of bright red polish. And then there's her crimson-colored satin sheath. Carrie confessed just to us that she rarely wears red, she's more a fan of pink and black.
Even her husband, who normally is dressed in blood-stained shirts as Lost's diabolical Ben, got in the vampire spirit with a matching red tie.
After hair and wardrobe complete, it was a short limo ride to Hollywood's Paramount Studios lot for HBO's True Blood season two premiere.
Carrie struck pose after pose for the cameras and walked the crimson carpet as did some of the other vampire cult cast members. Anna Paquin posed solo even though the vixen's real life vampire and beau, co-star Stephen Moyer did come out of his coffin to attend the party. Michael Raymond-James, Ryan Kwanten, and Alexander Skarsgard were also in "True" form.
Only radaronline.com got VIP behind the scenes shots that you can't see anywhere else of the people and the partying. Carrie worked the room greeting her co-stars, sure it was draining but no transfusions necessary.
No worries about fending off creatures of the night, but Carrie did have to steal her husband's jacket to fight off the chill and left the party exhausted, but elated.
True Blood season two kicks off Sunday June 14th on HBO.
