Chris Myers resigned as as the mayor of Medford, New Jersey Monday, just a month after insisting he would not quit because of allegations he'd paid for gay sex.

“My work commitments will not allow me to devote the time that is needed in the months ahead,” the married Myers, 46, wrote in a letter to the township manager and clerk.

What those "work commitments" are is uncertain because last week Myers parted company with his other employer, Lockheed Martin. A company representative said the Republican’s alleged scandal caused workplace distractions, The Courier Post reports.
