The multimillionaire who adopted his girlfriend just months before he went on trial for DUI manslaughter was sentenced on Friday to 16 years in prison.
Earlier in the day, a Palm Beach, Florida judge denied John Goodman a new trial based on a drinking experiment a juror in his case conducted, before convicting him, the Palm Beach Post reported.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, juror Dennis DeMartin wrote about his exploits in a new book where he reveals that he went home and drank three vodkas one night during the trial to test if Goodman would have been impaired at the time of the crash.

World Speedway Champion and actor Buce Penhall’s son Connor Penhall was killed Wednesday night by a suspected drunk driver in Los Angeles and on Friday the driver was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter.
Connor, 21, was working as a subcontractor for Caltrans when a Toyota RAV4 traveling 60 mph struck him, tossing him 50 to 75 feet.
The driver, Sakamoto Tatsuhiko, initially tried to flee but officers arrested him on the scene on suspicion of DUI and took him into custody.
He was also charged with DUI causing injury, driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol causing inuury and a special allegation of causing great bodily injury according to the District Attorney’s office.

A jury in a Palm Beach, Florida courtroom has found the multi-millionaire who adopted his girlfriend guilty of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide after plowing into a 23-year-old student’s car in February 2010.
After two weeks of testimony and five-and-a-half hours of deliberations, the ruling was read on Friday and now John Goodman faces up to 30 years in prison when sentenced on April 30.

Both prosecution and defense attorneys rested their cases in the DUI manslaughter trial of John Goodman Thursday and left the fate of the multi-millionaire in the hands of the Palm Beach, Florida jury.
“The defendant was impaired, the defendant was speeding, the defendant ran a stop sign, the defendant probably unintentionally had too much to drink that night," prosecutor Sherri Collins said in her closing arguments, reported ABCNews.com. "And when the crash happened, did he go around and look at the front of the car to see what he hit or to the canal that was three feet away? No, he headed south."

The multi-millionaire who adopted his girlfriend took to the stand in his DUI manslaughter trial Wednesday in an attempt to explain his actions on the February 2010 night when he was involved in a fatal accident with a 23-year-old student.
Dressed in a dark suit and spotted tie, John Goodman, 48, stammered as he told the Palm Beach, Florida court that he consumed two shots of tequila and two shots of vodka over the course of the night, and claimed he then left the swanky Players Club shortly before the crash on a quest for a Wendy's Frosty, reported the Palm Beach Post.

The Costa Concordia was the second cruise ship crashed with Captain Francesco Schettino at the helm, according to internal company documents leaked on Thursday and published in several Italian newspapers.
The captain, who has denied any wrongdoing in the wreck of the Costa Concordia, also damaged the Aida Blu cruise ship in June 2010 after sailing too quickly into a German harbor where he “maneuvered at a speed of 7.7 to 7.9 knots during entry into the port of Warnemunde.”

Schettino's response to his employer: “I did not know the speed limit and have not received notification of an infraction from the relevant authorities."
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Schettino has been dubbed “Captain Coward” for abandoning his the Costa Concordia after it went down off the coast of Giglio, Italy. He faces manslaughter charges after 32 people were confirmed dead. Seven more are still missing.

The closing arguments in the first degree murder trial of lacrosse star George Huguely V were made in a special Saturday court session, and jurors now have three days to wait before they return for deliberations on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old senior from the University of Virginia's fate is far from set in stone, as he faces anywhere from one year to life in prison, based on what the jurors decide, reported ABCNews.com.
