Mackenzie Phillips told The Early Show Monday that coming forward with the admission she was having sex with her dad, Mamas And The Papas front man John Phillips, over a decade-long period has caused "devastating" family problems.
Amongst the family members who have publicly taken Phillips to task over the truthfulness of the bombshell include her former stepmother Michelle Phillips and half-brother, Tamerlane Phillips.

“I think maybe she’s reaching out for a solution to a problem that did or didn’t happen,” the former Monkee’s frontman told RadarOnline.com during the Macys and American Express Passport AIDS fundraiser in Los Angeles on Thursday. “If she said it did [happen], I believe it did.”

“You can’t not not believe that this is something that happened,” Jones added. “It might have been drug induced. She might have been in a different place at the time. She had heroin inside her, she had coke inside her and who knows what that does.”
Since revealing shocking news on the Oprah Winfrey show last week, Mackenzie has drawn both support and criticism from family and friends as to the veracity of her claims.

“I have every reason to believe it’s untrue,” Mackenzie’s stepmother, former Mama’s & Papa’s member, Michelle Phillips said during a recent interview.
“Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.”
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, The Mama’s & Papa’s Cass Elliot’s daughter, Owen Elliot defended Mackenzie’s allegations. “Mackenzie is my best friend and I know that she would never make up a story like this. I don’t know anyone who would make up a story like this. I absolutely back her up 100 percent.”
As for why Mackenzie chose to reveal the allegations in such a public way, Davy Jones explained: “Burt Reynolds just came out of rehab. We’ve got all of these characters going into rehab to kick booze or drugs or whatever. Maybe this is her rehab.”

Lisa D'Amato, a one-time America's Next Top Model hopeful who struck up a friendship with Mackenzie Phillips on VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab 3, told The Early Show Friday she believes Phillips' claims she was molested by her late father, Mamas And The Papas front-man John Phillips.
"She's very, very happy because she feels a weight has been lifted off," D'Amato said. "She feels she can finally continue her life, and prosper in her adult life."

Mackenzie Phillips' shocking revelation that she had sex with her famous father John Phillips got mixed reactions from stars walking the pink carpet Thursday night at the launch of Candy Ice Fine Jewelery at Beverly Hills' Prego boutique.

Mackenzie Phillips, on the promotional trail for her book, High On Arrival, said on the Today Show Thursday that her father, The Mamas And The Papas singer John, was "not a bad man, just a very sick man," despite engaging her in an incestuous relationship throughout her twenties.

A tearful Mackenzie Phillips bared all on The Oprah Show Wednesday, with shocking allegation after shocking allegation.
The most shocking? That she had an incestuous affair with her father for ten years, became pregnant and then aborted the baby, not knowing if it was her own father's child or the child of her then husband.
It was this event that ended the affair she was having with her father, John Phillips, of the band the Mamas and the Papas.

Phillips also claimed that her dad was the one who shot her up with cocaine for the first time, and that he raped her on the eve of her wedding to Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones Entourage.

With regards the Rolling Stones, Phillips said of her affair at 18 with the band's lead singer, "Mick Jagger locks the door and he says 'I've been waiting for this since you were ten".
Phillips said the first time she did coke she was 11, and that her dad taught her to roll joints at the age of 10.
There was one one good revelation during the interview though, Phillips said that she has been clean from drugs for a year now.
Phillips was on the Oprah Show to promote her new memoir, High on Arrival, out Wednesday.

It's no wonder MacKenzie Phillips has led a life of self destruction and drugs.
In her shocking memoir, High On Arrival, out on Wednesday, Phillips reveals details on having an incestuous affair with her father, who also shot her up with cocaine for the first time.
She claims her father, John Phillips of the 60s band Mamas and the Papas, first had sex with her on the eve of her wedding to Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage.
The former child star claims that the affair was a long-term one and that her father even suggested they run away somewhere "where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji."
MacKenzie is on The Oprah Show Wednesday to talk about her new book and it's explosive revelations.

She talks on the show about her father shooting her up with cocaine for the first time, saying, "He put the needle in my arm and put the plunger in and he missed. He missed the vein and my whole arm went numb."
MacKenzie also talks about her affair with Mick Jagger at age 18, saying, "Mick Jagger locks the door and he says 'I've been waiting for this since you were ten years old.'"
