EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Lindsay Lohan Arrives At Rehab Under Police Escort

Posted on Aug 02, 2010 @ 09:35AM - 18 comments

Lindsay Lohan arrived at the UCLA Medical Center to begin her court-ordered 90-day rehabilitation stint less than 20 minutes after she was released from the slammer — and RadarOnline.com has the exclusive video.

Lohan's motorcade consisted of a mini-van and two marked police cars.

A black SUV followed at distance, although Steve Whitmore, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s spokesman, has declined to confirm whether Lohan’s mom Dina accompanied the transport.

Shortly after the convoy arrived at 1:54am PT, three more police cars arrived at the hospital and blocked off the entrance, as Lindsay checked into its substance abuse treatment center.

At the time, the hospital had a heavily increased security presence with both uniform and plain-clothed personnel.

Inside, the 24-year-old was placed under the supervision of the L.A. County Probation Department.

Earlier, Lohan was released from the women’s correctional facility in Lynwood, California, at 1:35am PT.

She managed to leave sight unseen and was spirited out a back entrance.

"She has been sent directly to her next destination, which is a treatment center... this concludes her custody," Whitmore told waiting media, outside the jail.

While Lohan avoided the same infamous walk Paris Hilton made during her exit from the same jail in 2007, the Mean Girl star’s release was not without its own drama.

In an elaborate plot to diffuse media interest, two black Cadillac Escalades drove from Lynwood to the high-end residential facility Morningside Recovery in Orange County, where Lohan had been slated to check-in.

They were followed by paparazzi, who remained camped outside the facility early Monday.

Lohan was expected to check into Morningside until Judge Marsha Revel made a last minute change of heart over the weekend, as RadarOnline.com was first to reveal.

"There was concern that [Morningside Recovery] was not a secure enough facility," District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison told PEOPLE.

Robison added Judge Revel was concerned that drugs could be easily passed onto the actress.

Lohan served 13 days of a 90-day sentence for violating terms of her probation in a DUI case.

Her early release was due to good behavior and overcrowding in the L.A. jail system.

She is required to remain clean and sober until August 2011, when her probation term ends and will be subject to a year of random drug testing.

Violation of the terms of her probation could have her sent back to jail.

UCLA has an established celebrity past: Britney Spears had an extended stay there in 2008 after first being transported there for treatment and evaluation during a 72-hour emergency hold.

Matthew Wilder, the director of Lindsay Lohan’s new movie Inferno, told RadarOnline.com that he was banned from seeing the jailed actress and that he still hopes to start production on the film this fall.

Wilder – who is helming the project about the life of porn star Linda Lovelace – was turned away after attempting to visit Lohan at the Lynwood Correctional Facility.

“It was really frustrating because I wanted to see Lindsay in person on Saturday to try and lift her spirits,” he said. “I went down to Lynwood and filled in all the paperwork and waited in line for about 45 minutes only to be told at the last minute that I could not see her because she had used up all her visits. I immediately called her assistant, Eleanor, and she told me that she would in fact not be able to see anybody which was really frustrating.

“I’m told Lindsay’s spirits are good but that it’s difficult for her, as it would be for anybody, to be locked up in a small cell like that.”

Still, he believes that the troubled star will be ready to start filming Inferno this year once she has completed a stint in rehab as part of the punishment handed out by Judge Marsha Revel.

“We had a producers meeting yesterday and if everything goes to plan we are hoping to start shooting Inferno around November 10, 2010, which would be great.

“To tell you the truth I don’t know if all of this publicity about Lindsay will be good or bad for the movie and we are all just itching to get started at this point.

“Hopefully, she can draw from her experiences and when she comes back from rehab she can shows everybody exactly what she can do. Despite everything we still have a lot of confidence in her and back her 100 percent for Inferno.” The young director has gone out on a limb to get Lohan for the role and is hoping that she can pull through for him when the cameras actually start rolling.

In Inferno, there will be some artful full frontal nude shots of Lohan as she tries to portray tragic porn star Lovelace.

Both Courtney Love and Anna Faris had been rumored to play Lovelace before Lohan emerged as the frontrunner.

In recent years, while Lohan’s personal life has been plagued with controversy, her movie career has gone into a tailspin as well.

Lohan has been missing from the big screen since 2007's psychological stripper flop I Know Who Killed Me. Her last hit was 2004's Mean Girls.
