Jackson buried the lead in his chat with George Lopez on Lopez Tonight Thursday, throwing out some big news  only toward the end of the interview.

Despite a bad case of laryngitis, 16-year-old Lauren Alaina appeared to pull slightly ahead of 17-year-old Scotty McCreery on Tuesday's American Idol grand finale, as the two teens had to sing three songs: one they chose, one chosen by their musical idol and an original song.

Alaina, who blew a vocal chord while practicing in the afternoon and underwent emergency treatment, said she was "ready to sing" and "fine" as the show began.

In the final performance of the evening, she dug deep in belting out the original ballad Like My Mother Does, prompting judge Jennifer Lopez to tell her, "Lauren, with that song, you may have just won!

Bible Belt babies Scotty McCreery, 17, and Lauren Alaina, 16 will face off on Tuesday night's grand finale of American Idol, with the tenth season winner to be announced on Wednesday's season finale.

McCreery, a Garner, North Carolina native, enters the finals as the favorite, as he has not appeared in the bottom of vote-getters at all this season.

Haley Reinhart brilliantly recovered from an embarrassing slip-and-fall during her rousing rendition of Led Zeppelin's What Is and What Should Never Be on Wednesday's American Idol.

The 20-year-old Illinois native tripped on the stairs, after running around the judges' platform to play to the crowd. To her credit, she just smiled and kept on going, getting a boost from the judges, who praised the way she didn't sell the stumble.

"It's not about how many times you fall,"  judge Steven Tyler advised. "It's about how many times you get up."   Randy Jackson loved her performance so much, he gave her a standing ovation.

Despite wowing the judges with his rendition of the Journey classic a night before, Santa Cruz native James Durbin was eliminated on Thursday's American Idol results show, making for the 10th season's biggest shocker since the abrupt end of Pia Toscano's run.

The heavy metal singer, 22, was one of the bottom two finalists alongside Scotty McCreery on a night Ryan Seacrest said 72 million voters cast their selections, marking a top-four record.
