Nashville trio Lady Antebellum had a big day in New York on Friday that began with their debut performance on Good Morning America and ended with a visit to the U.S. Open Players Party on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel, where the band mingled with tennis elite.

“It was our first time on GMA, which was such an honor and exciting time to play in front of our great fans in NYC,” Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood tells RadarOnline.com. “And we’re huge tennis fans, so we had a blast at the U.S. Open party. We’re sad to see Serena [Williams] injured this year, but maybe it’s a chance for [Caroline]Wozniacki to get the Open title.”

Haywood says the band has written more than 25 new songs since the release of their breakout sophomore album, Need You Now, and they hope to release their follow-up in 2011. “We feel more honest with each other as songwriters,” Haywood said, adding that the band is about to start rehearsals for their upcoming tour, which kicks off September 20 in Orlando and ends in November in Kansas City.

“This will be our first time headlining,” he says. “We’ve been observing our mentors for a few years now, touring with Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney, so we’ll use our tricks from them and give it a shot.”

Check out the band’s upcoming tour dates at Lady Antebellum.

2010 Academy Of Country Music Awards: Best And Worst

DNP Random Things

Country’s hottest crooners showed up at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the 45th Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday.

PHOTOS: Best And Worst Of The 2010 Academy Of Country Music Awards

Stars including Julianne Hough, Carrie Underwood, Jewel, Reba McEntire and Randy Travis walked the orange carpet, with the dresscode ranging from glam couture and dapper duds, to embroidered lapels and offbeat overalls!

Though we were anxious to see American Idol alum Carrie Underwood on the orange carpet, her look was a bit disappointing.

The gorgeous blonde babe, opted for a pale pink, one-ruffled-shouldered, mini, which featured an embellished side halter and belt. Although it wasn’t awful, it wasn’t awe-inspiring either.

PHOTOS: Carrie Underwood In A Bikini In The Bahamas

Julianne Hough missed the mark in a confusingly coutured, white strapless gown, which featured awkward embellishment, while Miranda Lambert shimmered in midnight blue, sequined floor length, which featured cap sleeves and a plunging neckline.

PHOTOS: Taylor Swift’s Siren Style

Jewel looked absolutely gorgeous, wearing a dreamy, periwinkle blue, chiffon baby doll gown, which featured an embellished bodice.

The tiered floor length, had a fairy tale like feel to it, which was perfectly suited for the rags-to-riches singing sensation, while Meghan Linsey of the band Steel Magnolia’s wore a peachy perfect strapless, which looked strikingly similar to Demi Moore’s Atelier Versace Oscar Dress.
