Jury Recommends 26 Years For Lacrosse Murderer, Juror Says ‘Justice Was Served’

After finding him guilty of second degree murder, the jury in the George Huguely V trial recommended to the judge that he be sentenced to 26 years in prison, and now jurors are opening up about their decision.

The 24-year-old University of Virginia lacrosse player was handed down the life-changing sentence on Wednesday for the May 2010 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love, in a drunk rage, during which he beat her and banged her head against a wall after he found out she had slept with another man. Her body was discovered by her college roommate the next morning and the cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma to the head.

Lacrosse murder suspect George Huguely V has been found guilty of second degree murder in the May 2010 death of his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love.

Jurors in the Charlottesville, Virginia courtroom spent more than nine hours on Wednesday deliberating the fate of the 24-year-old former University of Virginia senior who was charged with the first degree murder of his fellow lacrosse player.

Even after allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend to death with his bare hands, the third day of George Huguely V’s murder trial became too much for the star lacrosse player and he broke down in tears.

The emotional outburst occurred when a video interview showing 24-year-old Huguely being questioned by police shortly after Yeardley Love’s battered body was discovered was played in the Charlottesville Circuit Courthouse.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the University of Virginia athlete is standing trial charged with first degree murder in connection with the May 2010 death of Love, 22.

Jurors were quickly drawn into the violent death of lacrosse player Yeardley Love as graphic photos of her battered body were shown to the court on just the second day of the murder trial of George Huguely V.

The family of Love sobbed openly as images were displayed of her lying bloody and lifeless in her room at the University Of Virginia after her ex-boyfriend had allegedly beaten her to death in May 2010, reported ABCNews.com.
