Carla Burgos, the sister of slain Monica Beresford-Redman, met with Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley on Monday for several hours, RadarOnline.com learned exclusively.
Monica's husband Bruce Beresford-Redman is a suspect in her murder, which occurred in Mexico.

Accompanied by her high-powered and newly hired attorney Alison Triessl, Burgos met with Cooley for approximately three hours. Sources close to the case told RadarOnline.com exclusively that Burgos and her attorney want "assistance" with the case from the L.A. district attorney's office.

Monica and Bruce,who have two children, had been staying at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun when Monica was reported missing. Her body was found in a sewer at the resort. Bruce was released from Mexican custody but remains under investigation. He is not allowed to leave the country, according to investigator Veronica Acacio.

Shortly after Bruce was released, RadarOnline.com learned that he had been having an affair with a co-worker which prompted the Mexican getaway with Monica, which was an attempt to save their marriage.

Survivor producer Bruce Beresford - Redman testified via conference call from Mexico on Friday in a court hearing held in Los Angeles to determine who would get temporary custody of the couple’s children.

Bruce's parents, David and Juanita were awarded temporary guardianship of the couple’s two children, Alec and Camila. Monica's sister, Carla had also applied for temporary guardianship, but she was denied.

The docs state that Bruce's parents are to have temporary custody through May 20, 2010 and that the children’s passports both American and Brazilian, be turned over to court officials.
Monica's sister, Carla, and her son are allowed to have visits with the children in the grandparents’ home.

The temporary guardians aren't allowed to restrict who sees the children. The children are not allowed to leave LA County without a court order.
