Fresh off her memorable performance at the MTV Movie Awards, Christina Aguilera releases her fourth studio album, Bionic. The album was recorded in Christina’s home studio after the birth of her son, and features collaborations with Sia, Linda Perry, Le Tigre and Ladytron. “I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don’t think anyone will expect,” says Christina. “I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective.”

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack includes tracks by The Dead Weather, Vampire Weekend, The Bravery, Florence + The Machine, Band of Horses and The Black Keys, along with a collaboration between Beck and Bat For Lashes, and more…

New Music Releases: Smashing Pumpkins

Billy Corgan is back with another Smashing Pumpkins album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope 1: Songs for a Sailor, and says the album “harkens back to the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins; atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty,” although he does have a new lineup for the band that includes guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino. “Each song we've recorded is like its own movie,” says Corgan, who has offered up the album up for free song-by-song on the band’s website. “Hopefully when you put all 44 songs together they'll create a bigger journey that can only be seen when you have all the pieces to the map.” Of course, die-hard fans can purchase the limited edition box set, which is packaged in a silk-screened wooden box….

Melding two generations of folk-rock music at the Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles on April 17, John Prine and opening act Josh Ritter took the audience on an often mellow ride, injecting their musical stylings with humorous asides and anecdotes. Upfront and center first, an endearingly clearly nervous Ritter took to the stage alone. Though he was openly shaky about sharing billing with one of his idols, he delivered a seasoned performance. “He stopped a song halfway through to tell a story which isn’t done that often,” a concertgoer noticed. “He picked up the song right back up. That move belies a certain confidence.” One other crowd-pleasing trick? He turned off the lights for ‘Curses’ giving the audience a rare treat by forcing them to focus on the music as their other senses were blacked out.
