The paparazzi were tipped off about Heidi Montag’s trip to court this morning by HER and NOT by Spencer Pratt, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
Heidi filed for legal separation from her reality husband at the Los Angeles County Courthouse in Santa Monica today after going to the Malibu court location first by mistake!

While it’s always difficult to separate truth from fiction concerning this fame hungry pair it looks like for once Heidi was working WITHOUT Spencer’s approval.

A source told RadarOnline.com: “The tip came from Heidi early this morning and not from Spencer.
“He has gone missing and as far as we know he did not know anything about what Heidi was doing.

“The tip came in early this morning but Heidi went to the wrong court before heading to Santa Monica.
“She is still living at the rented house in Malibu although nobody has seen Spencer at the Pacific Palisades house they used to share in recent days.”

Heidi cited “irreconcilable differences” in her petition.
She also said there are “no such assets or debts subject to disposition by the court,” which imply that the couple has a prenuptial agreement.

“She’s not quite ready to file for divorce. She had great concern for her finances; Spencer has been spending what she considers to be her money.”
California law states the date that you separate ends community property.

The Hills stars are a walking controversy--Heidi for her 10 surgeries in one day, Spencer for his tirades and his bizarre addictions to crystals.
Heidi, who is arguably the more interesting of the duo, took to Twitter to audition for Michael Bay’s Transformers 3 and is starring in a new reality show with her friend Jennifer Bunny.
Our source says “this is the real thing. Heidi would never take legal action unless it was legitimate. This was not a stunt.”

Pratt has admitted to spending half a million dollars on energy crystals this year. “I am so addicted to crystals, it's like a sickness," he was quoted as saying. “I've spent $500,000 on crystals this year. I checked my bank account last night, and I have $203 left. There's a whole science to this. I'm not crazy.”
Despite having accumulated a good amount of income from being on the reality show, from photo shoots, and from other business ventures, Pratt and Montag were spending too much too quickly.
