President Obama: ‘Bullying Is Wrong, Destructive, And We Can All Prevent It’

President Barack Obama addressed bullies and their victims Sunday while introducing To SPEAK UP Against Bullying, the Cartoon Network’s 30-minute documentary detailing the ills of the epidemic that’s captured the nation’s attention since the high-profile suicides of youth such as Rutgers student Tyler Clementi and Buffalo teen Jamey Rodemeyer.

“Bullying is not a rite of passage or harmless part of growing up,” the commander-in-chief said. “It’s wrong. Its destructive and we can all prevent it.”

The Associated Press named Lady Gaga the Entertainer of the Year Monday, as the pop superstar edged late Apple founder Steve Jobs by just three votes.

The honor, voted on by 135 AP editors and broadcasters, is based on who had the most influence on entertainment and culture in 2011.

The singer, 25, has touched on a number of facets in the past year, from a hit album in Born This Way to a record-17 million Twitter followers to her tireless social work, which has recently been focused on the campaign against bullying.

Pop's biggest star on Tuesday was in Washington D.C. to discuss bullying prevention with staffers from President Barack Obama's administration, who praised the socially-conscious singer for using her influence for positive causes.

A cavalcade of notable people are wearing purple for Spirit Day on Thursday October 20, which aims to show support for LGBT teens and fight bullying, and the growing numbers of gay teen suicides.

A cavalcade of notable people are wearing purple for Spirit Day on Thursday October 20, which aims to show support for LGBT teens and fight bullying, and the growing numbers of gay teen suicides.

“From Hollywood to corporate America to local grassroots advocates, Americans are taking a stand against bullying this Spirit Day and showing all LGBT teens that it’s okay to be who you are,” GLAAD President Mike Thompson said in a statement about the occasion, which is part of National Bullying Prevention Month.

Among those who've participated in the day's festivities include the casts of Good Morning America, The View and The Talk; and celebrities such as Cher, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien, Chaz Bono, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Heather Graham, Carson Kressley, Ricky Martin and the casts of TeenNick’s Degrassi and MTV’s Jersey Shore and Teen Mom.

Zachary Quinto is once again thanking his supporters since coming out of the closet over the weekend.

"I feel so incredibly grateful to all of the people who've reached out to me directly or indirectly or just in spirit and I feel really, really like my entire future is laid out in a different way and it's thrilling and scary and overwhelming," Quinto, 34, told reporters Monday night on the red carpet of his new film Margin Call in New York.

It was just a quick ad lib after a story, but ABC News’ Dan Kloeffler is making headlines himself today.

The reason? While anchoring ABC World News Now at 3 am Monday, Kloeffler revealed that he is gay.

Kloeffler’s admission came after a story about Heroes actor Zachary Quinto, who recently announced that he is gay.

Speaking matter-of-factly, Kloeffler quipped: “He's 34, I'm 35, I'm thinkin' I could lose my distraction about dating actors for that one.”

It was just a quick ad lib after a story, but ABC News’ Dan Kloeffler is making headlines himself today.

A day after coming out in an interview with New York Magazine, actor Zachary Quinto said he was "in awe" of the support he's received, and explained what led to him making the public revelation.

He tweeted Sunday: "i have spent the day in awe of this outpouring of support and resonance. we. are. in. this. together. NEVER FORGET! i am deeply moved. (sic)"
