Iraq War Veteran Dies After Saving Woman From Small Plane Crash

An Iraq war veteran who was an unexpected hero on Friday when he dragged a woman from the burning wreckage of a small plane and saved her life tragically died from his own injuries.
Former marine Austin Anderson was traveling in the eight-seater twin-engine Cessna 401 plane with Hannah Luce and three other friends when they crashed in rural Kansas shortly after taking off from Tulsa.
After her dramatic rescue, Luce is the sole survivor of the group of Oral Roberts University graduates who were heading to a Christian youth rally called Acquire the Fire, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which was hosted by an organization founded by Luce's father.
Following the forced landing in a field, the plane skidded for 200 yards then hit several trees and burst into flames. Anderson, 27, managed to pull Hannah, 22, to safety and the pair walked down the road to get help, but the war vet later succumbed to the burns that covered 90 percent of his body at a Wichita hospital.

Dancing with the Stars champ J.R. Martinez is a dad!
The soldier-turned-soap star and girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones welcomed a baby girl -- Lauryn Anabelle Martinez -- Wednesday evening in Los Angeles.
“She’s already got a nickname: Belle,” the Georgia native told People, adding the baby weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 21 inches. “She has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips.
"It’s just amazing to see her, finally. She’s beautiful.”

The 28-year-old's life story is a harrowing one: at 19, serving in Iraq, J.R. suffered burns to more than 40 percent of his body after driving over a land mine.
After more than 30 surgeries, Martinez has embarked on a career in entertainment -- he was named one of People magazine's Sexiest Men Alive last year -- and as an advocate for veterans.

Cutting through miles of red tape -- military dogs are routinely considered unadoptable and are put down after their service -- Leavey on Friday was formerly permitted to adopt Sgt. Rex.
Megan and Sgt. Rex were on two tours of Iraq together until a roadside bomb explosion took them both out of action. The 28-year-old Leavey, who won a Purple Heart, was discharged from the Marines in December 2007 because of her injuries. Her partner was deemed fit to go back to work.

Green Zone (R)
Matt Damon is back in butt-kicking mode mode as Roy Miller, a bad-ass Army soldier gone rogue in Iraq. When Miller gets stuck with faulty intelligence, he dives into a dangerous maze of secrets and lies before it’s too late, and another war breaks out. Bonus: The film re-teams Damon with his Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum director, Paul Greengrass. (Matt Damon [Roy Miller], Greg Kinnear [Clark Poundstone])
Remember Me (PG-13)
Hollywood’s sexiest vampire takes a more human route to romance in this film about love and redemption. Robert Pattinson plays Tyler, a wealthy New York college student who’s been hardened by a family tragedy and suffers major daddy issues. When a pretty girl arrives on campus, he does some half-hearted wooing -- only to start sweating her in a big way. As their love blossoms during a hot city summer, they each find the will to let go of their pasts before a final crisis that shakes the film to its core. (Robert Pattinson [Tyler Hawkins], Emilie de Ravin [Ally Craig])
