Michael Jackson's Mother Is 'Very Happy' With Conrad Murray Guilty Verdict

Emotions were running high in the courtroom when Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, and his family is ecstatic with the news.

Michael's mother Katherine told RadarOnline.com that she is "very happy with the verdict," outside the Los Angeles County courtroom.

The Jackson family was a strong presence in the courtroom throughout the trial and when the verdict was read on Monday they gasped with emotions.

During opening statements Tuesday, Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense team dropped the shocking allegation that Michael Jackson self-administered the lethal dose of Propofol and caused his own death.

“The scientific evidence will show when Dr. Murray left the room Michael Jackson self administered a dose of Propofol that was the Lorazepam created a perfect storm in his body that killed him instantly,” his defense attorney Ed Chernoff said in his opening statement.

“On June 25 for 10 hours Michael Jackson was frustrated because he could not sleep, frustrated that his doctor refused to give him a drug that he wanted. He did an act without his doctor’s knowledge, without his doctor’s permission, against his doctor’s orders.  He did an act that caused his own death.”

UPDATE: A California Appeals court has just denied Dr. Murray's defense team motion to have the jury sequestered. Jury selection will begin Thursday in Los Angeles.

Dr. Conrad Murray will take the stand in a desperate bid to beat involuntary manslaughter charges, Star magazine is exclusively reporting.

The embattled doctor is charged in connection with the 2009 death of his former patient, King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Katherine Jackson's Attorneys Seeking $350,000 From Michael's Estate

Katherine Jackson's former attorneys are continuing their legal battle against her son's estate and in their latest filing, have asked the court to award them $350,000 for costs and fees they say were run up in the days immediately following Michael's death in 2009.

In the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the fees and costs the firm of Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman are requesting are termed "reasonable under the circumstances," of Katherine briefly taking control of Michael's estate, and even include $18,000 incurred in connection with Michael's funeral!

Opening statements have been pushed back in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray who's charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of pop superstar Michael Jackson, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

Lawyers for Michael Jackson's former live-in physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, will be in court in Los Angeles on Monday to discuss several key pretrial matters, including whether to televise what will no doubt be one of the nation's most sensational trials ever.

L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor scheduled the hearing for Monday afternoon.

According to reports, Ross had a very weak pulse when a flight attendant on the Houston to Phoenix flight came over the loudspeaker to ask if there was a doctor on the plane.

Dr. Murray, whose California license is suspended while he awaits trial, was able to start an intravenous drip he found in the plane's medical bag and stabilize her.

The plane was diverted to Albuquerque.

Upon landing, the woman, who was traveling with an 11-month-old baby, was met at the gate by paramedics and taken to a local hospital.

It was a media circus at court in Los Angeles Monday as the late Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, arrived to attend a hearing relating to the involuntary manslaughter case against him, and RadarOnline.com was there.

The Jackson clan were there, with Katherine, Joe and Jermaine arriving first, followed shortly afterwards by Janet.

When Murray arrived, escorted by one of his defense attorneys, Ed Chernoff, and a plethora of deputies, he was met with a barrage of boos and chants of "murderer" prompting the sheriffs to quiet down the crowd.

Inside the courtroom the atmosphere was tense, Janet sat next to her mother, Katherine, tenderly playing with her hair while waiting for proceedings to start.

There was a quick change of judge before Murray's next court date was set for June 14th. The Attorney General's office, representing the California Medical Board, objected to putting it over until that date, saying the public is at risk, but the new judge, Judge Pastor, disagreed and said it could wait until that time.

Dr. Conrad Murray will be required to be at court for his June 14th hearing.
