A house owned by screen legend Jack Nicholson burned to the ground Friday night, sending two firefighters to the hospital.

The L.A. City Fire Department originally thought it was responding to a brush fire, and sent nearly 90 firefighters to the scene.

Ablaze was a house owned by the Hollywood icon. He lived in it when first purchased, but has rented it out for years, reported KABC-TV.

His current renters are William O'Farrell and William Tynan, actors who appeared with Nicholson in The Two Jakes, the sequel to his Oscar-winning Chinatown.

The Titanic star -- who carried the Brit billionaire’s 90-year-old mother Eve to safety from the blaze -- is "so glad" that none of the 20 guests in the Great House were injured early Monday. (Winslet’s  boyfriend Louis Dowler and her two children Mia, 10, and seven-year-old Joe, were among those staying at the home).

The Oscar winner, 35, told The Sun newspaper: "I’m just so glad that everyone is safe. And this very easily could not have been the case.

Los Angeles firefighters responded to a large, single family house fire, according to  Los Angeles Fox TV station  KTTV. The house was badly damaged, as huge holes in the roof could be seen from an overhead helicopter.  KTTV reported that people were seen removing Funicello's mementos from the home.

A small electrical fire broke out Thursday in the garage of the Los Angeles home actor Alex Pettyfer is staying at, RadarOnline.com has learned, causing him to arrive late to the premiere of his new film, Beastly.

A small electrical fire broke out Thursday in the garage of the Los Angeles home actor Alex Pettyfer is staying at, RadarOnline.com has learned, causing him to arrive late to the premiere of his new film, Beastly.

The fire was reported at 5:40 pm PT Thursday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott, who added that firefighters had it put out in about 20 minutes. No one was injured, and there's no word as to the extent of the damage.

Pettyfer walked the red carpet, did interviews and introduced the film at the premiere, but left after a short time presumably to deal with the fire.
