It’s all down to World's Wildest Police Videos on Spike, which returns May 7, to delight those with a vicarious thirst for danger.

The Discovery Channel gunman identified as 43-year-old James Jay Lee has been shot and killed by police snipers, RadarOnline.com has learned.

A spokesperson for the Montgomery County Police Department confirms that Lee is now deceased.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Lee stormed the Discovery Channel Headquarters in Maryland armed with a gun and with explosives reportedly strapped to his body. Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger held a press conference shortly after confirming Lee’s death and detailing what happened inside the Discovery Channel headquarters building.

According to Manger, Lee entered the building at approximately 1pm EST with two boxes and two backpacks, possibly containing explosives and was armed with a handgun. He immediately took three men hostage; one was a security guard.

After nearly four hours, police snipers shot Lee and the three hostages were safely removed from the building.

Police continue to scour the building for possible explosive devices.

After nearly four hours, police snipers shot Lee and he was taken into custody. His condition is unknown.

In a manifesto published on his site, Lee wrote: "All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions.”

“In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it."

He demanded Discovery "MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to save the planet."

There are 11 demands telling the company to cease airing shows about large families and start airing shows that would promote curbing the plant's population growth, finding solutions for global warming and dismantling "the dangerous US world economy."

A frightening picture is being painted of the hostage suspect who is holding an unknown amount of people at gunpoint at the Discovery Communication headquarters in Silver Springs, Maryland.

The man has been identified as radical environmentalist James Jay Lee, who used his website — which has now crashed — to demand the Discovery Channel and TLC remove all shows about multiple births.

Rich Wolf, of the FBI in Baltimore, told RadarOnline.com they are assisting Montgomery county police department. 

“The FBI has been on scene for about the last hour and sent bomb techs to assist, but they haven’t needed to detonate anything,” he said.

Local have moved the radius of the perimeter two blocks, they said.

UPDATE 12.45 PT — Police have described the suspect as having "concerns" with the Discovery Channel. Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks said police were communicating with the man.

UPDATE: 12.50 PT — Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger says the gunman has what he described as a "small number of hostages" but he did not say how many. He also did not say what the man wants or whether anyone has been injured.

A gunman, possibly carrying explosives, has entered the headquarters of the Discovery Channel and fired shots, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

According to police in Silver Spring, Md., a report came in about 1 pm of a gunman who entered the building.

Employees inside were told to take cover in locked offices and police have sent SWAT teams to the area to seal off nearby roads.

The 911 call reported that shots had been fired, according to the Washington Post.

Local media is reporting children at a day care center in the Building have been safely evacuated to a nearby McDonalds.
