After much speculation after she recently checked in Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai hospital, Nicole Richie announced on Wednesday that she gave birth to a son.
“In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009 Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden,” her official website said. “He weighs 7lbs 14oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”

Congratulations Nicole Richie and Joel Madden--while baby number two is still on the way, looks like he/she will have a nice little nest to share with big sister Harlow.
The couple purchased a new home in Los Angeles, moving from a rental in the Hollywood Hills to the bohemian Laurel Canyon.
One of the biggest homes in the region, the secure compound features 4 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, a guest house that converts to a giant screening room and a lagoon pool.
The asking price on the home, described as Aspen Lodge meets Tropical Paradise, had an asking price of $1,999,000.
The family is leaving behind a property in Glendale, Ca.

Nicole Richie prefers the simple life, void of any complications -- including wedding rings -- for now. The daughter of All Night Long crooner Lionel Richie told talk show host Larry King Thursday that her unmarried status to Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, the father of her daughter Harlow Winter Kate and unborn child, suits her well. "Of course when I was a little girl, you dream about getting married, and that is definitely a dream of mine one day," she told King.
