Fox is about to bring the tastiest import from across the pond this side of breakfast tea: MasterChef, a smash-hit cooking competition in the U.K. and Australia, that takes average joes with no experience in the food business, and trains them to be the next Wolfgang Puck.
Then there's the host, the explosive Gordon Ramsay, who is to cooking what Simon Cowell is to evaluating singers: blunt, brutal and the best in the business.
“Gordon Ramsay is the biggest cooking star on television today and one of the most dynamic personalities on Fox, so we jumped at the opportunity to work with him to bring MasterChef to the U.S.,” Fox's Mike Darnell told RadarOnline.com.
Darnell said the show “searches for people who possess that perfect blend of creativity, innovation and passion for creating great dishes – rather than focusing on running a kitchen – that earns them the title of MasterChef."
Sounds like an entertaining recipe, indeed.

One thing is for sure, everyone was very well fed! Also, it looks like many of the guests were set for a major hangover the next day! Louis Roederer champagne was poured by scantily clad women all night, starting at the cocktail reception, and after chocolates and cupcakes were served at 1:30am, some scantily clad women in striped stockings went around pouring shots of vodka.

The global economic climate is enough to impair any aspiring mogul, but it seems Gordon Ramsay has really taken a hard hit.
Not only is the culinary master slumming it at a Ralph's Supermarket in Malibu, Ca., he's utilizing a handicapped parking space for his shopping needs.
Are times that tough?
The chef and International restaurateur has been faced with multiple closings and even the prospect of bankruptcy lately.
Hell's Kitchen Star Sells Ferrari to Stay Afloat
Posted on Jun 03, 2009 @ 02:50PM - Add a comment

Hell’s Kitchen star Gordon Ramsay was hit so badly by the credit-crunch that he had to sell his prized Ferrari to keep his restaurant chain afloat, it has been revealed.
The wealthy Scottish chef’s business was threatened with ruin after amassing over $10 million in unpaid taxes.
Firey Ramsay faced his very own ‘kitchen nightmare’ after his accountants urged him to give-up control of his business so they could sell off large chunks of it.
But the dad-of-four refused the proposal and raised $7.5 million of his own cash including the sale of his $250,000 Ferrari.
The celebrity chef devised a plan to save Gordon Ramsay Holdings which he runs with his father-in-law Chris Hutcheson which meant some personal sacrifices.
He told The UK’s Sunday Times newspaper: “We were told to go into administration and Tana, my wife, discussed selling our house.
“There was no way I was going under – I couldn’t let down my staff and suppliers – but the car had to go.
“God, I loved that Ferrari but we got rid of our losses. We’ve got strong trading. Stop now? No way. The best is yet to come.”
Ramsay – who has become a household name in America through Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares – was worth an estimated $100 million fortune before the recession hit.
Last year, he cheated death after he plunged off an 85 ft high cliff in Iceland while filming a segment about puffin hunting – his film crew rescued him after throwing him a rope and pulling the chef out of the water.

Hell’s Kitchen Gordon Ramsay on Replacing Paula and Tackling the Iron Man
Posted on May 07, 2009 @ 04:20PM - Add a comment

Hell’s Kitchen super-chef Gordon Ramsay has always been one tough dude. Now the straight-talking Brit is eating lean and mean so that he can get in shape to compete in an American ‘Iron Man’ event. He also opens up about being up for another tough gig: American Idol judge.
The 42-year-old Scottish multi-millionaire - who just recently completed his 10th marathon in London - has changed both the way he eats and cooks at home to stay in tip-top condition and gave RadarOnline.com the rundown of his routine.
“I’ve totally cut-out dairy and butter and I’m using much cleaner cooking techniques like steaming, nothing is fried now,” he revealed.
“In the morning I have a fresh fruit smoothie and I’m eating plenty of salads and fresh fruit while I’m only eating white meat now.”
Ramsay is going on grueling runs each day with a back pack loaded full of weights as he prepares his body for the 2010 Iron Man event in Florida.
And the mega-successful chef – who is preparing for the finale of this year’s Hell’s Kitchen on Fox – admits he got a jolt when 400-lb. chef Robert Hesse had to pull out of the competition because of severe chest pains.
“Yes, that was scary and I was really concerned for Robert as he was a very talented chef,” admitted Ramsay. “But cooking these days is very ‘high pressure’ and chefs have to look after themselves and try and stay fit. Robert struggled with that mind-set but he is an amazing guy and I’m sure he will get himself in shape again.”
Ramsay believes that this year’s Hell’s Kitchen finalists Paula DaSilva and Danny Veltri are the best the show has ever had and that it will be a close call to choose the eventual winner. He added: “They are both great chefs who would have won any of our previous seasons of Hell’s Kitchen for sure. Paula is very single-minded, very calm in the kitchen but amazingly creative too while Danny is very bold and ambitious with his cooking and is great in the kitchen and a very quick learner.”
Ramsay is currently filming a new series of his Kitchen Nightmares show in New York where he goes into restaurants that are on the brink of closure and tries to turn them around. And despite the hectic schedule, the fiery chef joked that if fellow Brit Simon Cowell decides to step-down from judging American Idol then he would step in as a replacement next to Paula Abdul.
“Sure, why not? I could do that job no problem,” he said.
