Sarah Palin isn't going down without a fight. Shortly after future ex son-in-law Levi Johnston went on The Early Show with more Palin family revelations, the former Alaskan governor went on attack.

"We have purposefully ignored the mean spirited, malicious and untrue attacks on our family," Palin said in a statement.

Sarah Palin Will Finally Appear On Oprah

Johnston had claimed that Palin called her baby son Trig- who has Down syndrome- "retarded."

"We, like many, are appalled at the inflammatory statements being made or implied," Palin retorted. "Trig is our 'blessed little angel' who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life."

The former vice presidential candidate also took an easy swipe at Johnston's decision to pose nude in Playgirl.

"Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies," she said. "Those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention."

Who needs the governorship of Alaska when you have an eight-figure book deal. In a disclosure statement released Tuesday regarding Sarah Palin's finances during the time of her resignation, a $1.25 million figure was described as her "retainer" which many take as advance compensation for her upcoming memoir.

"The Governor has complied with Alaska disclosure law by her filing," her spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said in an e-mail Tuesday. "Now, as a private citizen, her business dealings, including her publishing agreement, are confidential."

The former vice presidential candidate can expect more future paydays: her book Going Rogue went to number one on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble's website after her publisher announced it would move the release date to November 17.
