Gilles Marini may have fallen short of the grand prize last season on Dancing With The Stars, but he still knows how to pick a winner. Though former pop stars Aaron Carter and Donny Osmond emerged as clear frontrunners with their considerable dance experience, Marini told RadarOnline.com that the one to watch is “Iron Chef America” chairman Mark Dacascos.

“I like to see the underdog make a statement. You don’t have to be like Aaron Carter. he’s danced all his life,” Marini alum told RadarOnline.com during the Macy and American Express Passport AIDS fundraiser in Los Angeles. “The purpose of the show is that someone can teach someone something. And Mark Dacasos is really that person.”

Marini isn’t the only one who thinks Dacascos is a serious contender. Following his martial arts-inspired cha-cha-cha, Dacascos scored a 21 from the judges, with judge Bruno Tonioli stating, “the talent is there, so, you know, keep it tight.”

Still, the hottie hoofer says this season’s contestants need to step up their game. “They need to work a little harder,” said Marini. “The quality of the dance is a littler lower I feel.”

RadarOnline.com got a lucky chance to sit down with heartthrob Gilles Marini, best know for his stint on Dancing with the Stars and as the hot (often naked) neighbor in the Sex and the City movie.
Our Tina Malave chats with the hunk, currently promoting his new steamy official calendar, where he discussed forthcoming acting gigs and even announces he's getting into music.
"That's the thing I'm working twenty-four-seven," Marini confessed, "working with humongous, top of the line producers."

A huge upset on the Dancing with the Stars finale Tuesday. Olympic Gold Medal winner, Shawn Johnson, beat out the faboo Frenchman, Gilles Marini and rejected Bachelor star, Melissa Rycroft, who were both favored to win the competition.
With Mirror Ball trophies firmly in their hands, Johnson and partner, Mark Ballas were still shell-shocked when RadarOnline.com reporter, Tina Malave, caught up with them after the telecast.

It was freestyle night for the finals on "Dancing with the Stars” Monday. Some of the celebs, like Shawn Johnson hit big, others, like Gilles Marini, took a hit.
The judges, however, never at a loss for words, spared no one’s feelings. After the show the stars told RadarOnline.com reporter, Tina Malave, what went right and what went wrong.
