Rebecca Black has found both fame -- and infamy – since the release of her song Friday.

The 14-year-old Anaheim, California girl, whose single has garnered more than 167 million Youtube views in the past six months, told Nightline on Tuesday that she'd been so getting brutally ribbed by classmates about the song, she decided to leave the school.

"When I walk by they'll start singing 'Friday' in a really nasally voice," she recanted of the abuse she took from petty peers. "Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'"

Shortly thereafter, her mother Georgina Marquez took her out of the junior high she was attending and is now home schooling her.

The cute teen shot to fame when the video for her first single Friday went viral and she became the subject of derision and criticism around the world.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported Rebecca was subsequently placed under police protection after receiving death threats, and Friday was dubbed “the worst song ever”.

So much for playing that catchy song Friday to get us into the mood for the weekend.

Looks like Rebecca Black is one step closer to musical redemption.

The 13-year-old California-born singer, whose song Friday made her an internet sensation (and one of the most ridiculed singers of all time), makes a surprise cameo in Katy Perry’s new music video, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

The Teenage Dream singer has released a brief teaser for the video, in which her super nerdy alter ego, Kathy Beth Terry, attends a crazy house party.

The song’s bad but it’s not THAT bad.

Internet teen sensation Rebecca Black has been placed under the protection of the Anaheim, California Police after the singer received two death threats RadarOnline has learned.

Anaheim Police spokesman Rick Martinez says: "One of the threats came over the phone and another emailed."

Rebecca Black's ubiquitous ditty Friday may have been called the "worst song ever" and mimicked by comics everywhere, but the teenager's music video has just logged 100 million YouTube views.  And she hit that magic mark faster than Justin Bieber.

Black, just 13, hit the astounding 100 million views in just 63 days. It took the Biebs 67 days to get there with Baby.

And Black has even more to celebrate this weekend.  Glee is reportedly set to cover the tune on an upcoming episode.
