Style Radar: Faboo or Faux Pas? Smokin' Hot Mini Numbers
Posted on Jun 10, 2009 @ 07:17AM - Add a comment
The mini-dress craze is all the rage for the hot Hollywood starlets -- if you've got it (and most of them do), flaunt it, but do it up right!
Known as a techno-pop diva, Fergie proved to be a metallic fierce-fashionista in a green and silver, flashy Emilio Pucci mini-dress, complete with sexy cut-outs.
Jumping on the cut-out bandwagon, Kristin Cavallari wore the same strapless Herve Leger black mini-number Heather Graham wore in Dublin 2 days ago, but who wore it better?
Let the (undead) style wars begin: the True Blood vampirettes beat out the Twilight gals in the fashion department. Anna Paquin and Mariana Klaveno both stunned the season two premiere on the red carpet in Los Angeles in classy, chic, dark, and dramatic ensembles -- thankfully, there were no Kristen Stewart Chuck Taylors in sight!
In the Far East, Megan Fox continued her sexy style siren world tour in a very tight and fabulously fierce Herve Leroux teasing LBD.

Style Radar: Faboo or Faux Pas? International Fashion Fabulosity

Chic styles adorned our favorite style trend setters, spanning the globe in sophisticated locales such as Monte Carlo, London, Dublin, New York, and more!
Heather Graham stepped out for The Hangover premiere in Dublin flauting her figure in a curve-clinging Herve Leger strapless black mini-dress with cutouts. Also in black, fashion plate Kim Kardashian took a classic (yet flirty) approach in a ruffle hem Rachel Pally sheath dress for day three of the Monte Carlo Television festival. Katy Perry's fashion is as contemporary as her music. The girl-kissing pop diva did it up in yet another fab, colorful ensemble in an orange pencil skirt and floral-print zippy vest for designer Lulu Guiness' 20th anniversary bash in London.
Across the pond in New York for the Webby Awards (which honors Internet innovations), Victoria's Secret model/ extremely hot mama Alessandra Ambrosio was angelic in a white Balmain studded mini number, while model-turned-actress Molly Sims went for a shocking pink-printed Paris Hilton-styled Marchesa sleeveless dress.
On the topic of Paris, the Hilton Heiress was spotted at Eva Longoria Parker's restaurant, Beso, and while she wasn't in her signature pink, the teal tones of her outfit and accessories complemented the socialite's early summer look all the same.

Style Radar: Faboo or Faux Pas? Feathered Fun & Retro Chic

The stars turned out in style for a signage unveiling party to celebrate the British fashion house Burberry's newest flagship location in New York City.
Claire Danes stole the show at the rooftop fete, in a heather-grey bubble hem dress from the designer's pre-fall 09 collection, Molly Sims shimmered in a feathered and crinkled frock, and Rose McGowan went retro in an over-sized cream suit.
Downtown for a benefit at Capitale, Sex And The City star Kristin Davis was beauteous in black, as she traded in her Charlotte-like dresses for a modern glam twist in a black leather studded Oscar de la Renta strapless dress with embroidered details and a feathered skirt.
And while were on the subject of comely, cable TV brunettes, Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker shined while showing her support for the Worldwide Orphan Foundation Benefit at the La Perla boutique in Los Angeles. The Fried Green Tomatoes alumna looked cutesy casual in a bow-waisted, strapless black dress. Parker's simple-yet-chic style is flattering -- until you notice the woodblock platform, metallic sandals, which would have been better left buried in the closet.
Also in Los Angeles, for Oakley's Intro to Summer Event, High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens sported a flirty white mini dress that complemented her flawless olive complexion. She topped off the fashionable ensemble with mix-matched bangles and metallic gladiator sandals. The girl we envy snagged a pair of the brand's retro Frogskins shades while she was in the neighborhood.

Coast-to-coast cosmopolitan fashion took center stage Wednesday, from the Laker playoff game in L.A to the Fifi awards in the Big Apple.
High style was the name of the game with Kim K. hitting a fashion three-pointer in sky-high Louboutin booties to cheer on the Lakers (presumably her second favorite team behind her honey's Saints). Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson didn't disappoint style-wise either, the Bejamin Button beauty enjoyed the Lake Show with a metallic Louis Vuitton tote in hand.
At the Fifi Awards in NYC, not only did Paris Hilton win the "Female Celebrity Fragrance of the Year" award, but she won the battle of the red carpet, sparkling in an effervescent fuchsia Georges Chakra Couture gown. Queen Latifah, also clad in Georges Chakra, hit up two NYC events in a charcoal-metallic, single-shoulder, gown worthy of her hip-hop majesty.
Grey's Anatomy doc Kate Walsh was also in New York, and proved that while metallics are trendy, pink lurex flatlined alongside it.

The beautiful women of American Idol past and present oozed glam and fashion on the red carpet in their return to the Nokia theater for Wednesday's season finale of the top-rated show.
Idol winner-turned-multi-platinum star Carrie Underwood fluttered in a hot pink, jeweled chiffon Jenny Packham number, while season two's Kimberly Caldwell dressed up her rockstress style in an 80s inspired black and emerald flounce dress. And not to be outdone, popstar-turned-Idol judge Paula Abdul glimmered in gold from head-to-toe (literally, with the help of a fake tan).
In Cannes, blonde beauty Diane Kruger looked elegant and sophisticated in an ivory silk chiffon Marchesa gown, and Sharon Stone turned back the clock, recapturing a hint of her Basic Instict sex appeal in a black Balmain mini dress with train.

The gals at Cannes continued to impress us with their varying styles Tuesday, from luxurious couture gowns to those of the classic, simple and strapless variety.
Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz embraced lilac in a draped chiffon Marchesa Fall 09 gown. Caught up in the Riviera moment, Diane Kruger captured the essence of laid back chic in a strapless black dress and a perfectly loose ponytail. And famed Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese didn't go Moulin Rouge, but flaunted her cleavage in a tulle-trimmed frock.
In Los Angeles, Taylor Swift showcased her versatile fashion sense in a white-tiered Cynthia Steffe dress, while Lindsay Lohan made an energetic, seasonal fashion statement with a floral jumpsuit.

Strapless couture gowns, and the divas who wore them, impressed on different continents last night, from the lights of the Big Apple to the red carpet in Cannes.
In New York, Renee Zellweger stunned in a dramatic smoked jacquard Carolina Herrera number. Milky beauty Anne Hathaway didn't wear Prada, but looked python chic all the same in a marvelous Proenza Schouler get-up. And Michelle Obama continued to bring her elegant, with-the-times fashion sense last seen in the White House during the days of Jackie O's pillbox hat. The first lady looked resplendent in a purple Isaac Mizrahi set.
Hilary Swank wowed in a gunmetal tiered gown in Cannes, reflecting her tough-yet-sexy aura.
Going less formal, but still chic -- Rihanna lived her life with a hip, downtown look, complementing her high forehead with high hair, a motorcycle jacket, and dunks in Manhattan. The Barbados beauty, just like in music, continues churning out fashion hits with style and grace, making her one of the foremost trendsetters of the times.
