The JetBlue pilot who terrified passengers with his mid-air meltdown left the hospital in handcuffs on Monday morning to make his first appearance in an Amarillo, Texas courtroom.

During his arraignment, Clayton Osbon was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal at the Randall County Jail, reported CBSNews.com, and no bond was set. He had previously been receiving medical evaluation at the Northwest Texas Healthcare System.

Tragedy struck on a New Jersey highway on Tuesday when a small plane spiraled out of control and crashed into the median, killing all those aboard.

The group, which was flying from Teterboro Airport to Georgia for the holidays, was made up of Jeffrey Buckalew, 45, and Rakesh Chawla, 36 - who are both managing directors at the New York investment banking firm Greenhill & Co. - as well as Buckalew’s wife, two children and a dog, reported the Washington Post.

Buckalew is thought to have been piloting the plane, which was registered in his name.

Two days after she was horrifically slashed by the propeller of a small plane, model and fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs is becoming aware of her graphic injuries, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The 23-year-old from Plano, Texas, is currently recovering in the ICU after undergoing surgery to amputate her left hand. "As Lauren begins to wake up, she is learning the extent of her injuries," revealed CaringBridge.org, the web blog set up in her honor.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the pretty blonde had gotten off the two-seater 2011 Aviat Husky A-1C-180 aircraft at a private airport in McKinney, Texas, after enjoying a festive flight to look at Christmas lights, and reportedly walked directly in front of the propeller.
