Simon's Cowell's 50th birthday celebration was a raucous Las Vegas comes to London blow-out, and RadarOnline had a ringside seat.
The "American Idol" judge-music mogul and his party organizer pals, Sir Philip Green (the British retail store titan– he owns Topshop) and Green's wife Tina, spared no expense in indulging Simon's fetish for Frank Sinatra, The Rat Pack, burlesque and was capped by a powerhouse greatest hits set by R&B legends Earth Wind & Fire.
The $2 million bash was held at Wrotham Park Manor on the Outskirts of London on Saturday October 3rd and set in a tent converted into a bustling Vegas showroom. All the waiters wore Simon Cowell masks at the pre-dinner cocktail party.

The fete featured many of Simon's favorite delicacies such as Shepherds pie, fish and chips and mini roast beef and Yorkshire pudding hors d'oeuvres and the 400 person guest list included such celeb notables as "Idol" pals Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Olivia Newton-John, David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, Terri Seymour, Gordon Ramsay and Andrew Lloyd Weber.
Although Elton John, Paula Abdul (who called in sick) and "Britain's Got Talent" sensation Susan Boyle were no-shows, the rowdy party attendees were treated to performances by Leona Lewis, the aging boy band Westlife and the aforementioned Earth Wind & Fire, who had been flown in from Vegas at a cost of $200,000.
EWF's raise-the-roof versions of "Shining Star," "Boogie Wonderland" and "Twelfth Of Never" even had usually staid captains of the entertainment industry dancing wildly alongside British tabloid editors.
And Simon -- who may be as famous for his vanity as his generous nature -- thanked everyone from the press to his family to friends and colleagues for his success in a heartfelt speech in the latter party of the evening. And he described himself with one word... "Lucky."
Simon’s X-Factor Is Coming To The U.S.
The media tycoon also poked fun at himself everywhere at the party. His beaming face was in Michelangelo-style paintings on the ceilings, on the wallpaper, on the cupcakes, in the porta-potties...even the letters in the alphabet chicken noodle soup spelled out SIMON!
Among the special moments observed during an evening that started at 8 p.m. and went until almost dawn were Simon and Ryan Seacrest hugging each other while an uncanny Frank Sinatra impersonator belted out "New York, New York," Simon swaying together with his mom Julie while a faux Dean Martin performed "That's Amore" and Sharon Osborne going on to the birthday boy about how daughter Kelly has transformed from a tomboy to a lady on "Dancing With The Stars."
There were a few lowlights at the event. A burelsque musical skit featuring a woman costumed as a dancing vagina appalled many in the crowd, including Simon.
But highlights like "Idol" judge Randy Jackson getting up for an impromptu bass solo on EWF's "Let's Groove" and urging the crowd to "party on" more than made up for those few glitches at Britain's party of the year.

Paula Abdul recently announced she was under the weather and on Thursday the former American Idol judge hinted she may be a no-show after all for former colleague Simon Cowell's big 50th birthday bash in London.

"So bummed! I might not be able to go to Simon's B-day after all. Waiting on the Dr. to see if I'll get over this flu in time,” she wrote on her Twitter page. Abdul added: “Even had a funny surprise in store for him.”
Simon Turns 50
Cowell’s black-tie affair will be 1920’s-themed according to reports and held at the lavish estate Wrotham Park. Elton John, Kate Moss, Kevin Spacey and Piers Morgan are some of the other famous names on the invite list.

Elton John Wants To Adopt – Says Orphan Has “Stolen My Heart”

Elton John may be following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and adopting an orphan from a war-torn country.

The singer and his partner David Furnish visited a Ukrainian orphanage September 12, and one little boy named Levi may be soon becoming part of their family, “David has always wanted to adopt a child and I always said ‘no’ because I am 62 and I think because of the traveling I do and the life I have maybe it wouldn’t be fair for the child,” Elton told reporters accompanying him on his mission for his Elton John AIDS Foundation.
“But I have seen Levi today. I would love to adopt him. I don’t know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David’s heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I’ve changed my mind today.”
Elton’s appearance at the orphanage, where he performed for the kids, came on the same day that Jolie visited the world’s worst refugee camp in Kenya where she tried to comfort starving children and their mothers.

Are there really that few eligible men in Hollywood? Hayden Panettiere is making the most of her status as a hot, single Hollywood starlet by making the dating rounds: this time picking up Lindsay Lohan’s ex!
The Heroes actress spent an afternoon in Malibu with restaurant owner Harry Morton. While they had some canine company, the two only had eyes for on another and were spotted being playful on the sand- “jumping, skipping, and running around laughing.”
“The couple seemed extremely happy,” the onlooker noted.
Reese Witherspoon Is Elton John’s Tiny Dancer

Elton John dedicated his classic song Tiny Dancer to Reese Witherspoon during his August 1 concert at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Reese, her kids and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal were all on their feet through much of the outdoor show and were even shown on the big screen, much to the approval of the rest of Elton’s fans.
Reese is in the City of Brotherly Love shooting her latest movie, a so-far untitled project with director James L. Brooks, costarring Jack Nicholson, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson.

Recently claiming she's single and mingling, Hayden Panettiere did more of the latter recently during a night out with her most recent fling, Welsh TV host Steve Jones.

While they were rumored to have split, it seems like they may have the makings of a full blown summer romance. According to an onlooker at Firefly restaurant, the two got close throughout the night as they hung out with other pals. At one point, the actress even slipped into his lap.
One point of contention: who picked up the bill. After a little squabbling, Panettiere grabbed the nearly three hundred dollar tab.

In addition to jetlag, Hayden Panettiere should beware chaffing during her visit to the South of France--the starlet is rubbing elbows with so many stars it may leave a mark.
After a full week of yachting with the likes of Elton John, David Furnish, James Blunt and rumored beau Steve Jones, Panettiere has been snapped yet again with a bold named gentleman.
Last night in Cannes, the Heroes actress was snapped exiting French club V.I.P Room with Justin Long, the on-and-off paramour of Drew Barrymore.

Hayden Panettiere has been soaking up sun in the South of France for days now, lounging with the likes of Elton John and partner David Furnish.

First in Cannes where the world famous Film Festival is currently playing out, Panettiere and crew have sailed roughly 10 miles to Antibes--another coastal French city, where they spent Friday enjoying water sports and socializing on deck.
Noticeably absent from the crowd was Panettiere's rumored new love interest, TV presenter Steve Jones. The pair have been quite cozy on board all week.

Sean Penn Withdraws Request for Legal Separation

Just because he’s shooting a film in New York and she’s dazzling fans at the Cannes Film Festival doesn’t mean Sean Penn doesn’t want to be back together with his wife of 13 years, Robin Wright.
He’s withdrawn his petition for a legal separation, which he’d filed April 24 in Marin County (CA) Superior Court.
“It was an arrogant mistake,” Penn told the New York Daily News of the separation.
Mr. and Mrs. Penn have been keeping family courts busy even before they married.
In 1996, already the parents of two children, the pair split and Robin obtained legal counsel to formalize custody and support issues.
But just weeks after a public scream-fest outside Robin’s attorney’s office, the pair married.
Then in December, 2007, they filed competing divorce petitions.
Sean made a grand play flaunting his newly single status by dating gorgeous model Petra Nemcova, even taking her to the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar viewing party.
Bachelorhood apparently didn’t agree with Penn though and in April, 2008 he and Robin both told the divorce court to take a hike, and they got back together.
That was until April 24 when Sean started racking up the legal fees with his most recent petition.
Whether Robin is willing to go along with this most recent reconciliation isn’t yet known.
Reps for the pair are so far not commenting on the Penn’s most recent stop on the marital merry-go-round.
