EXCLUSIVE: Gary Coleman Funeral Set For This Weekend In Utah

The funeral for Diff'rent Strokes star Gary Coleman will take place at the end of the week in Utah, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
Family and friends of the diminutive 4 ft 8 inch tall actor are planning to hold the ceremony at a funeral home in Salt Lake City.
But they do not know if it will be a private family affair, or if it will be open to the public to commemorate Coleman’s life.

Coleman's lawyer Randy Kester said: “The funeral will take place towards the end of the week either Friday or Saturday in Salt Lake City.
“It will be at a funeral home and the family is still deciding if it will be a private event or it will be open to his fans too.
“Although Gary was not a deeply religious person he did believe in an after life. Although I cannot discuss personal details like if he had a legal will or if he will be buried or cremated.
“I just spoke with his wife Shannon and she is still shocked that Gary has gone,but she is getting on with planning the funeral now and taking care of the business aspect of things.
“I’m not aware that Gary had mountains of debt or anything like that and he was getting-by doing jobs here and there.
“It’s sad that he died aged only 42, but the doctors did not think he would make it past 25 because all of his health issues.”

Sadly, Coleman died Friday after suffering a fall on Wednesday at the home he shared with Shannon Price in Santaquin City, 55 miles outside Salt Lake City in Utah. That fall cause an intracranial hemorrhage and Gary slipped into a coma.

In fact, Shannon and her father were at Gary’s side when the star passed away.

A family friend told RadarOnline.com: “It’s so sad because Gary and Shannon had really been trying to help one another in recent weeks.
“He had long-standing health problems and she had not been feeling too well either but despite all of their difficulties in the past Shannon and her family were always very supportive of Gary.
“After his fall they were all gravely concerned about his health.”

Coleman’s manager released this statement: “We are very sad to have to report Mr. Gary Coleman has passed away as of 12:05PM Mountain Time. He was removed from life support; soon thereafter, he passed quickly and peacefully. By Gary’s bedside were his wife and other close family members.
‘Thanks to everyone for their well wishing and support during this tragic time. Now that Gary has passed, we know he will be missed because of all the love and support shown in the past couple of days. Gary is now at peace and his memory will be kept in the hearts of those who were entertained by him throughout the years.’

Gary Coleman was planning to film a documentary-style show about his rollercoaster life, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

The diminutive star, who died at a Utah Hospital on Friday morning after suffering from a brain hemorrhage, was looking forward to the project according to his lawyer Randy Kester. Coleman was determined to set the record straight about his career and some of the highs and lows of his life by taking part in a series about iconic television personalities.

“We last talked around three weeks ago and Gary was in good spirits," Kester said. "He was getting along well with his wife Shannon and was in talks to take part in a shoot in Canada about iconic television people. It would have told the story of his career and life but unfortunately that will never happen now."

Though Coleman's health has been an increasing concern, Kester says the star was finally in a good place to move forward to better times. “Gary was having fun doing work around his house with Shannon and he was upbeat about the future," he said. “There was a false public perception about Gary because he was actually a very loving and kind guy. They may have had their highs and lows but he and Shannon had a real relationship and tried to build a life together.

“He used to get frustrated with the legal process sometimes and I don’t know if he really realized how big an impact that he made around the world. A lot of people knew who Gary Coleman was through Diff'rent Strokes.
"When I found out that he died I was really sad. I am going to miss the little guy.”

Steven Swan, a neighbor, told RadarOnline.com that couple kept to themselves and built a fence around their home to safeguard their privacy.

Swan said: “We had seen the police called to the house before and had heard them arguing in the past but it was pretty quiet in recent times until the ambulance was called earlier this week.
“Gary liked to remain private - neither he or his wife made any attempt to be friendly towards the neighbors.

“They just wanted to be left alone.”
The actor was best known for his stint on TV's Diff'rent Strokes which aired from 1978 to 1986, where he played the loveable character Arnold alongside Todd Bridges and Dana Plato.
Charlotte Rae, who played Mrs. Garrett in the popular TV show told RadarOnline.com ”I was with him the first year of Diff’rent Strokes and he was the reason we were such a big hit. He was the centerpiece and we all surrounded him He was absolutely enchanting, adorable, funny and filled with joy which he spread around to millions of people all over the world"
The tiny 4ft 8 inch tall star suffered a seizure on the set of The Insider.
Coleman had lived in Utah since 2005, when he starred in the movie Church Ball a comedy based on Mormon church basketball leagues. He met his wife during filming and the two later married in 2007.

He had had a string of financial and legal problems, in addition to continuing ill health from the kidney disease he suffered as a child.
The diminutive former star had at least two kidney transplants and had ongoing dialysis. Coleman reportedly had heart surgery last fall and suffered from post-operative pneumonia.
In February, Coleman pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge related to an April 2009 domestic violence incident.

Coleman is becoming quite a regular in the Utah court system, as RadarOnline.com previously reported, Coleman was arrested Jan. 24 at his home on a warrant for failing to appear in court. He spent a night in jail before a local businessman and long standing fan paid his $1,725 bail. In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com Coleman claimed he missed his court date as he was at hospital undergoing medical treatment. The former child star has suffered a string of health problems - dialysis for an ongoing kidney condition and heart surgery that was complicated by pneumonia last fall - and has struggled to find work.
Gary Coleman Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge
In December 2008, Coleman pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge stemming from an incident in a bowling alley parking lot three months earlier and was ordered to pay a $100 fine. It was alleged that Coleman tried to run over a fan in his truck after the fan refused to pay Coleman for a photo he had taken of the star on his cell phone.
A personal injury lawsuit against Coleman and his wife, Shannon Price, 24, was filed by the fan, Colt Rushton. Coleman settled for an undisclosed amount.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported local Utah business man Jarrod Clarke posted bail for troubled actor Gary Coleman following his arrest for an outstanding warrant, enabling his release from Utah jail last Monday.

In an exclusive interview Clarke told RadarOnline.com that although he had never met the Different Strokes star he posted the $1,725 bail as he felt sorry for the former child actor. “I felt bad for the guy. I grew up watching him and I know he has had a hard life,” Clarke said. ”To see that sad mug shot, for only $1700, I thought it was the least I could do.”
Clarke said that he did not expect Coleman to repay the loan, but shared with RadarOnline.com that Coleman’s father-in-law, who met Clarke at the jail, indicated that Coleman would be in touch to thank him. Something that, as of yet, has still not happened.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported Santaquin police arrested Coleman, 41, on January 24th after receiving reports of a "civil disturbance" at his home. Once there, police found Coleman had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

His father-in-law also revealed that Coleman currently undergoes dialysis three times a week for a pre-existing medical condition the actor has had since birth.

As rumors swirl around the internet RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal the mystery man who posted bail for troubled actor Gary Coleman, enabling his release from Utah County Jail on Monday evening.

Local businessman Jarrod Clarke, a Different Strokes fan who has never met the actor, posted the $1,725 bail, telling RadarOnline.com, “I felt bad for the guy.”
“I grew up watching him and I know he has had a hard life,” Clarke said. ”To see that sad mug shot, for only $1700, I thought it was the least I could do.”
Coleman was released late Monday after 27 hours in jail.

Santaquin police arrested Coleman on Sunday after receiving reports of a "civil disturbance" at his home in that town. Once there, police found Coleman, 41, had an arrest warrant issued for him.
On his release, a wheelchair bound Coleman told RadarOnline.com his jail experience was “absolutely miserable”.
"I'm happy as a clam...I just want to come home," Coleman said, adding he simply wanted to be in his own bed.

While Clarke has not heard from Coleman since he bailed him out, his father-in-law, who met Clarke at the jail, indicated the former child actor would be in touch.
Clarke, whose business interests include owning Money Train Title Loans, had wanted to keep his indentify secret and even went to the extraordinary length of initially telling RadarOnline.com he was Coleman’s private security, in a bid to keep his identity private.
Gary Coleman Hospitalized
“We weren’t doing it for any publicity,” said Clarke, of his motivation.
“It would have been nice to give him a ride home and talk to him about him being a spokesperson for our company, but we posted bail, no strings attached.”
And when asked if he would now seek the bail back from Coleman, Clarke said: “No, no, no. He is the last guy I would ever take money from, although I would take it from MC Hammer.”
Clarke can recover his $1,725 if Coleman appears in court for his outstanding cases.

RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained the dramatic 911 call for child actor Gary Coleman following a medical emergency back on January 6th.
Gary Coleman Hospitalized
In the call a male is heard telling the call handler that a 42 year old male [Coleman] has suffered a seizure and has vomited but is breathing.
When questioned more, the caller then says he isn't sure if there was an actual seizure.
Coleman Settles Lawsuit After Fan Accuses Him Of Assault
He goes on to say that the "jerking and twitching" has stopped but that Coleman is heavy breathing now although he is "sitting up".
The call handler gives instructions on how to proceed while waiting for the emergency medical crew to arrive, saying that if another seizure occurs do not perform CPR or "force anything into his mouth."
Coleman And Wife's Divorce Court Fiasco
The call handler says to turn him onto his side and not to allow him to get up or walk around.
He also instructs the caller to call back immediately if another seizure occurs and in the meantime to not allow [Coleman] anything to eat or drink.

Gary Coleman has settled a personal injury lawsuit stemming from an incident back in September 6th 2008, where the former child star and his wife were accused of assaulting a fan and trying to run him over with their truck.

New details have emerged about the troubled marriage of Gary Coleman and wife Shannon Price, who was arrested Wednesday evening for domestic violence and disorderly conduct.
The couple appeared on Divorce Court in May 2008, where Judge Lynn Toler heard accounts of severe infighting.

Coleman complained he shouldered too much blame in their household, and that Price would not stop pressuring the actor to have a child. Prince, in turn, claimed Coleman would fight like "a five-year-old."
His tantrums would allegedly including stomping on the floor, throwing things and banging his own head into the wall. Toler ordered the two to undergo counseling.
Price was book on disorderly conduct in Santaquin, Utah, on Wednesday evening.
The counts are misdemeanors, and she was released on a $1,205 bond. She allegedly broke household items belonging to the actor. Coleman apparently was not injured.
The Diff’rent Strokes actor is currently working as the Security Controller for Simmons Media Group in Salt Lake City.
He and his wife met on the set of the 2006 comedy Church Ball and wed in August 2007.
