For their sixth album, Placebo wanted something colorful and lustful – and less dark and bleak - so they enlisted producer Dave Bottrill (known for his work with Tool). “I wanted to do something a bit more upbeat and optimistic, almost psychedelic in the true sense of the word,” says frontman Brian Molko, who penned many of the songs on a boat shadowed by the Eiffel Tower. “Not necessarily inspired by psychedelic music, but full of color. Something that had a libidinous quality to it.”
