Move over Susan Boyle – there’s a new YouTube sensation coming out of British television. In just the past few days, more than a million people have logged onto the internet to see the jaw-dropping performance of 27-year old schoolteacher Danyl Johnson, who recently wowed the judges on the X-Factor, a British version of American Idol.
Johnson made his American television debut on Thursday, appearing on NBC’s Today Show. Johnson told hosts Matt Lauer and Ann Curry that his students encouraged him to audition.

Move over Susan Boyle! Meet Danyl Johnson who will give you goose bumps in the first seconds of hearing his incredible voice. The 27-year-old school teacher from Redding, England wowed the crowd and judges when he appeared on the British talent show The X Factor. After belting out The Beatles’ With a Little Help from My Friends, Simon Cowell called Johnson's soulful rendition "single-handedly the best first audition I’ve ever heard.” His performance which aired this past Saturday night, August 22, has already accumulated 1.2 million views on YouTube. Danyl Johnson won't need a little help from anyone if he can keep this up.
The 27-year-old teacher from from Reading, England, performed such a stirring rendition of The Beatles classic With A Little Help From My Friends on the British talent show, The X Factor, he immediately became the program's first talent to be offered an spot on American television; the praise he drew from one of the show's judges, music impresario Simon Cowell, speaks for itself.
